Mchale has a knack for killing players confidence.

I am glad that Dmo is showing what he can do but let's not forget that this is the summer league which consist of a few established nba players, rookies, and d league players. In all honesty, he should be dominating all games.

Personally, I still have reservations about his game but he is a 7ft player with promise. Hope this will be his year.

If we had more veterans McHale wouldn't play any young players.

Wow can't believe his thread has gone this far without the DMO haters swarming it with how his game is trash. He has steadily improved and should get more playing time this year. He is the only big (7 footer) we have to play C when Howard needs a rest. I know he's a PF but look around at how thin the C position is. He should at the very least give us a decent low post option in a limited role. Who else do we have?

From what I have seen from Motiejunas in the regular season, I am far from impressed.

He has to prove he belongs this year.

Can Morey just say that and trade him before the season even starts? I don't think so.

The Davis guy was giving Dmo fits, DMo's D is almost worst as Harden's. Plus Dmo has no lift in the paint and cannot rise above anyone. Not impressed with playing against D league talent and you're going on your 3rd year. Get out of here with that ish!!

    This!

The Rockets practiced, practiced, practiced PnR ALL the time... literally spent more time on it than anything else....

Yet the only player that is good at guarding the PnR is DMO.

Jeremy Lin was just lost... dude had no clue, so he just switched on everything, regardless of the play.

Chandler Parsons ran all over the court like a chicken with his head cut off, oblivious when to switch.

    James Harden... BWHAHAHAHA

Dwight Howard mostly scratched his head, trying to figure out what the hell the other 4 Rockets on the floor were doing.

Terrance Jones was the worst defender on the Rockets. Atleast Harden would stand in one spot, everyone knew what he would do, it was predictable and Harden would at a minimum funnel his man AT Howard like Kenny Smith did with Dream. Atleast with Lin and Parsons there was effort and hustle. With Jones you had no damn idea what you were getting... no damn idea. Jones went to the Stromile Swift school of basketball smarts.

They would get their shot at some point. Veterans don't sign long deals.

DMO is not a good defender.... but he is better than Jones, Harden, Parsons and Lin.

Yes, he has some issues, but lets not pretend like Jones is Dennis Rodman defensively. The WORST defender on the Rockets last year was the starting PF.

DMo's problem is lack of strength on the block and on post defense. Also, he had no role on the team last year. He's an offensive glue guy. He can score, but not very efficiently. When we've got weapons like Harden, Howard, Parsons, and Lin why would we run post plays for DMo of all people? That's like expecting OKC to run isos for Jeremy Lamb. Considering DMo doesn't have the defense or range to complement our stars I'm not surprised at all that he couldn't crack the rotation.

Parsons, Asik, and Lin are now gone and we've added Ariza to shore up our perimeter D, so hopefully DMo can find his groove. He really needs to contribute on both ends, though. Cut down the fouls, work on scoring without the ball, and he'll be fine.

Must not have watched much last year if you think D-Mo's defense is anywhere near as bad as Harden's

McHale has played the guy. DMo played in 62 games last year and averaged 15 minutes per game. He's played the minutes he's deserved to play. Dmo didn't deserve to play in front of Dwight, or Asik, or TJones.

I've thought all along that DMo is a center. He does his best work on the offensive end when he is in the paint. As the coaches have said, he just needs to focus on getting stronger so he can defend and rebound better.

DMo has looked good this summer, but he's not playing against NBA talent. Let's see how he does when the season starts. The coaches have given him chances to prove himself in the past, maybe this year he will become the player we all want him to be.

That's not true, people can watch and just not know what they are seeing. That's a real possibility.

Yeah. Like how he killed Chandler Parsons confidence. Everything Chandler says just oozes with low self esteem. Poor guy. McHale ruined him. And I'm not even going to get into Kevin Garnett and Kevin Love. McHale just decimated their confidence. Or remember when Stephon Marbury left the Timberwolves? He had zero confidence.

    I agree.

Unless McHale is forced to play you are you just become one of his favorites, he will kill a players confidence. Use them in ways that don't best suit their skills and then when they make an error he yanks them and glues them to the bench.

Thing with D-Mo is, if he wants to play PF he needs better range on his jumper. If he wants to play C, he needs to be a better defender/rebounder without fouling and without the ability to block shots.

He can't be both immediately. It does look like they've maybe given up on him being a good 3pt shooter - which IMO is a good decision. He should focus on being better inside since hitting 3's doesn't seem natural to him and it keeps him away from offensive rebounds.

I must admit that on the right team, this guy could be doing a lot better. So far though we've had a Jeremy Lin situation - the things he's great at are things we rarely need from him. But he's had a few summers to work on that stuff so it's make or break time. He has complained about his minutes in the past, but he flat out shouldn't be getting outrebounded by Jones. He should be scoring better than Jones if he's as gifted as he seems to be.

Agree with better than Harden and Lin, however, no where near Parson and not better than Jones. He enjoys taking more charges than blocking shots.
