Please not New Orleans, at least a city who didn't have it in a while.

It's just different view. Everybody thinks he(she) is right. But for NBA, that doesn't matter, which side has more people is the side they go with. Because the only goal is to make more money.

China is so against LGBT, NBA still wants to expand there if the timing is right.

And how can anybody support this? All those hours of hard labour to prepare for the event, only to get pulled because of a freaking law. Shame on you Silver!

For those who don't know, Charlotte was against the law but the state of NC overruled them! This is not on Charlotte at all, aside from keeping politics and sports separate.

Is there a contract? If so the city should sue NBA.

Yes punish the city for something the State did, makes total sense.

I'm fine with the decision. It sucks for Charlotte who OT mentioned didn't support the bill but hate and discrimination can't be tolerated and the message needs to be sent in some way. Not going to get too "political" here so I'll stop there.

What does this mean for Houston though? Our voters recently rejected an Equal rights ordinance.

Are we out of the running for future All Star games?

Hypocrites...No issue in the world for the NBA in regards to China and their rampant human abuse/discriminatory practices.

Its a joke when a corporation use the guise of "discriminatory" practices as a reason for moving the site from Charlotte. Rather it was just about the money....there is NO money to be made in Charlotte. These schmucks cant admit it...

So p***y. If you are going to pretend to stand on principle, pull the franchise.

The NBA is a business. They're trying to expand their influence in China to make money. HB2 is objectively bad for business. The ASG is primarily about promoting the sport and making money.

    No issue with this.

Whether it's "actually" for the anti-LGBT laws or just for revenue, it sends a message regarding the former. I approve of the decision but if the All-Star Game was set for Little Rock and they pulled it last second I would be pissed! Haha

This is stupid...There are so many other better ways to fight anti-LGBT laws than this. Unfair to fans there.

The NBA is an American company and feels that by doing this they can effect positive change in North Carolina. The NBA can choose to not do any business in China but that won't do anything to change laws over there.

I think this is the bottom line that people of all political persuasions should be able to appreciate. You fine certain rule-breaking players more than others. Business reasons. You select a certain brand of basketball and make certain TV contracts. Business reasons. You fine certain owners for statements, etc.

You can, within contractual limits of course, put your events wherever you want them. This is America.

The NBA decided this decision is better for their brand. I don't know if that's true or not, but it's their call.
