I think for sure porter is incredibly unrealistic. I think given ATL's desire to rebuild , bazemore is definitely on the block . Bazemore's contract is no bargain and there are probably limited teams that want to acquire him . You have to be a contender and you have to be able to send back a comparable salary if you are over the cap . It all comes down to the demand for Kent and what ATL can get for him / decides it's worth trading him vs keeping him . I don't see it as likely , but I think realistically there is a non-negligible chance . If we are going all in , then we could throw Qi , melton and a first in along with anderson. That would be giving up a lot . I don't see us doing that unless we are sure that there will be other moves like signing solid veterans for the minimum.
Add these three options: Trade for Kemba Walker or Kevin Love. Starting 5 of Paul, Harden, Tucker, Love, and Capela Or Kemba, Paul, Harden,Tucker, Capela. Or let Capela walk, trade for Marc and sign Lavine and Avery. Starting 5 of Paul, Harden, Lavine, Tucker, and Gasol. This is what we have come to. Sigh
That actually works in our favor . Maybe he is humbled by the lack of interest and grows a little character . Dwight isn't a good starter anymore . If he drops 10-15 pounds in favor of quickness he's the best backup 5 in the NBA
I'd like to throw my two cents into this...apologies @snowconeman22 if this rains on your parade: 1. S&T Ariza for Tyson Chandler 2. Re-sign Capela 3. Move Anderson and 2 1sts to Atlanta for a $20 million trade exception 4. Absorb Courtney Lee using $12 of the $20 exception 5. Absorb Garrett Temple using the remaining $8 6. Bring back Luc at 2.5 mil 7. Bring in Melo if/when he gets waived CP3/Gordon Harden/Lee Melo/Temple Tucker/Nene Capela/Chandler
I'd say no to dwight mainly because when they start hack a Capela, we'd have no natural center to go too. Nene is slipping and will be worse next year
My thoughts. Trade Chris Paul to Lakers for Deng, Kuzma, Ingram. Or whatever assets and get some picks. Trade James Harden to Boston for Tatum and some picks. Trade Eric Gordon to Philly for some picks. Sign and Trade Capela wherever he wants to go. Keep Anderson. Tank like crazy. Wait 5 years until Durant and Curry are old. Destroy the league.
Theoretical Dwight Howard that just plays like Capela and shuts the **** up would be great, but that guy doesn't exist.
No. No, no, no, no, no. No. NO. NOOOOOO!!!! Dwight is such a divisive presence that he will single-handedly kill the great chemistry that our team has. I don't care if he can average 30/20 and 10 blocked shots. His attitude will lose games for us and we'll finish around .500 and get bounced in the first round. Don't take my word for it, ask the 2016 Rockets. Here's a quick recap of my thoughts on signing Dwight:
Harden and CP3 took advantage of Boogie on the perimeter when he was healthy....and they will abuse him while he recovers from Achilles tear repair. Rudy Gay struggled this year somewhat from the same injury. Rudy is like a 100 pounds lighter than Boogie. Bring it on.
This is what I thought the Rockets should have done before last season. Then Paul, Harden, and Capela made me a believer. Well now our team is worse and the Warriors are significantly better and no other team was even close, so why try? We just hoping entire warriors team gets injured? Boogie gives Capela fits. We still have no answer for KD. We lost our best defender. Our team go older. Good luck.
THats what im thnking as well, but what about defensively when harden gets past curry i mean hes a huge presence inside, won't that be much tougher? How will you even switch on them 1-5 now although yes he will take some tough shots which I also don't think will be within the offense. Overall though don't you think its a net positive
Pau, Dwight, Melo, Parsons, JLin. All were good to great players at one point, perhaps they can find former glory. I'm not even joking, this is what's left for us. Rockets for life, Western Conference better recognize.
