Hey guys. Have finally arrived in Houston! Ready witness the Rockets hand it to Miami on the 29th. Will be my very first NBA live experience - thanks to living in Australia. Looking out my hotel window the Toyota Centre is right across the road. Going to take a stroll in a few minutes if i manage to get my luggage open. Zip ties. No scissors. Epic failure. Look forward to cheering with you guys for the month ahead! I'll be the one with the Ish Smith jersey and the sign "Delonte West - My Idol" (i'm undecided yet as to whether i'm joking or not about the sign)
I am majorly jealous!! I am dying to see a real game. But its hard to justify to the other half what their is to see in Houston all the way from Australia
That's awesome. BTW, Do you Aussies reckon that the Rockets are one of the more popular NBA teams in Oz? It seems like there are a number of you guys who are on CF and occasionally you guys make the trip over to watch a game.
I was going to stay at the Hilton - but they wanted to make me pay for my internet... Since i'm staying here for a month i didn't really want to be paying for that so i chose the Holiday Inn. Plus it has breakfast each morning - win win. Speaking from my experience - i don't see any other Rockets fans apart from the ones on CFs. A few people at my work follow the Bulls and the Celtics. Just walked past the Toyota Centre to get some photos of Olajuwon's plaque/statue/whatever you like to call it. And saw the Rockets running scrimmages on their training court. Was awesome. Except i was the only one interested in this - so i didn't bother peering through the windows for long because i would've looked too much like a freak. I'm in Section 126 for this game. I was asked for a lighter and the time off one guy... Was incredibly awkward when i explained i have the time in Sydney but not Houston's.
Not really. Its mainly the east coast teams that they play. Along with Lakers of course. Im just as surprised as you guys are too, because everyone i normally talk to doesnt go for the Rockets!
Good stuff! Post some pics. Visiting H-town is a must for Rockets fans. There's not much Rox coverage in Oz. Although the NBA coverage has improved. The past four days, I've seen Orlando v SA, Miami v Phoenix (Friday) and Orlando v Boston, Miami v LA (yesterday). Shame there were no Rockets games on.
