Does any fan base care as much about regular season awards as the Rockets fan base? I feel we’ve taken on the personality of our team. Super focused on hyping up regular season accomplishments. I’m not sure there is a team that has been as consistently good in the regular season as us in the last 15 years without a championship or a Finals appearance to show for it.
to be fair the media kinda made the rockets like this with their unprovoked attacks on the rockets for just... trying to win. the rockets weren’t like this a few years ago. But that is a pretty pathetic tweet by the rockets. We knew harden was gonna lose mvp MONTHS ago. Last night wasn’t a surprise. Give congrats to giannis and keep it moving. Nothing good comes from that tweet.
"Most pettiest"? Well, we have our grievances. The thing is, no one cares. Giannis was a lock from the get-go. Harden could have saved five children from a burning house and NBA beat writers would still say, "Wouldn't Giannis have done it better, in less time?" Still, can't hate on the guy. At least the MVP voters sighed collectuvely a year ago and awarded Harden. Good enough. We're not exactly Tonya Harding, even if we can't be Nancy Kerrigan.
Shame on rockets fans for wanting to see a guy rightfully rewarded for almost killing himself dragging an injured filled roster and g league players to 50+ wins with the most dominant offensive basketball we haven’t seen since wilt.
Good hopefully Harden stops chasing MVP and personal stats and numbers and focusses on the big picture. Countless times he got in when the game was done to extend his 30 point streak or whatever.
Absolutely pettiful and classless Just congratulate Giannis and move on This is the kind of **** that results in this organization getting so much "hate" and unfavorable media coverage And mind you it starts at the top with Morey who will do anything and everything to prop up Harden so much so that stats and regular season accolades have become more important than Championships
Pettiest fan bases?? Come on... I congratulate Giannis for winning. He had a very goood season on the best team. For me, it’s not about that. The narrative pushed all season along with the knowing pretty much who was going to get the vote is what’s upsetting. I personally feel like the numbers are in Harden’s favor. The historical significance is in Harden’s favor. We all knew it was coming, but it still stings a bit.
Rockets get trashed all the time, and the media tells outright lies and spreads fake news about Harden on a consistent basis...it’s obvious why the organization and fanbase are “petty” we’ve had dudes on national TV say that they want to punch Harden’s teeth in...we’ve also seen a few of them say we are a basketball abomination or whatever and it would be a travesty if we ever won anything we also have to deal with ref BS like in games 7 and game 1 against GS
I also think the show overall is unnecessary, I yeah, people might enjoy a couple show acts and watch couple actors and actresses present awards..... In the end the average Joe has to wait 1-2 months more to know who the MVP is.....lelz.
So we're "pettiful" and the "most pettiest." This isn't about a whiny fanbase, it's about a sports media that creates and perpetuates a narrative that Harden is a cheat who plays the wrong way and is single-handedly killing the sport of basketball. They're fine with not worrying about best player on best team when Westbrook is putting up historic numbers, but when Harden does it, they revert back and hand the award to Giannis over Harden because... yep, best player on the best team.
Harden will probably be appreciated more when he retires. He’ll have the revisionist history where people look back on his insane highlight reel and be like “damn that dude harden was a beast in his time”.
Imagine if Giannis had 3 key players for roughly long spells. Heck, we also lost House and Faried for decent periods as well. If it wasn't Harden, we wouldn't have made the playoffs. But the MVP is a joke. You need to be a most popular player to win it, not the most skilled player.
Harden is this decade's Allen Iverson. Amazing scoring averages while still putting up enough assists to prove he plays team ball, yet is still largely viewed as selfish. Enough steals to prove he's a decent defender, yet is still largely viewed as among the worst. Only one MVP award, despite stats (both individual and team) that argue for at least one or two more.
Harden broke NBA records time and time again while carrying a POS roster... The MVP is about the regular season be and Harden was a once in a lifetime performer....
