This would be awesome. We would be like Big Man U, and they would be the Deans. I love that we always play up our bigs heritage.
i would prefer a multibillionaire. it would be nice to have one of the richest owners in the league and unlimited funds for luxury tax. deke or yao can be the figurehead, but there better be some high roller behind them. i'm also not a fan of a big group of investors... very difficult to make decisions when everyone has to weigh in. gimme 1 guy with nothing but money to spend who wants to get out of morey's way, sit courtside every game and rack up fines complaining about officiating.
Mutombo's career earnings are about $127M. After taxes, assuming good investments, he could still have a good bit left.
Unfortunately, Steve Balmer already owns a team. I guess our best bet for someone like that would prob be tilman Fertita. He's a houstonian loves the city and has been a season ticket holder for quite a while. (I actually sat in his court side seats for my bday about 20 years ago) He seems like he would be ultra competitive and spend the money to keep the team going the right way. And best of all he would never move the franchise.
This damn thread lead me to Deke's HOF speech and then Yao's HOF speech and then old highlights of 08-09. Damn this thread!
and idk... having Moses Jr invest - that might be awkward... lol I'd love to see someone with the tenacity of Mutumbo involved in owning the team... the 'who wants to sex Mutumbo!" after wins and other triumphs... hell thats worth the price of admission on its own! lol
No no no.... I love Mutumbo but if he gets a bunch of investors it'll be too many hands in the pot. All it takes is one disgruntled share holder to say they want their return immediately to disrupt a process. We need another Steve Ballmer.
The worst you can do in a sports industry, is to buy a team, that is on a peak. It means you never getting money back and the value of your team would drop as years go by. That's why there would be no investors..
Sure but it is estimated at 1.7 billion, it could have been close to 3 billion IMO. With all the banana boat stars comtemplating and joining in.
