Droid Incredible just came in after a 3 week wait. It's been charging for a few hours before using it per the recommendations. So what are your must have Android apps? I tried searching for it on Clutch, but unless my ninja search abilities are failing me, there doesn't seem to be a thread about it. Anyone use Beautiful Widgets? Looks nicer than the stock Sense clock, but does it have the same functionality (weather & alarm when you tap it)?
Beautiful Widgets does do weather and alarm when clicked, once you buy it you have to download the htc Sense theme. Astro File Manager Meebo IM (If you instant message) MixZing (Better than stock music app) Swype (Keyboard, not in market) Pandora/Last FM/Slacker (Streaming Music) Paper Toss (Fun game) RemoteSms Tunee Music (Free music) Twitter (Offical Twitter App) That's my list
in the industry...congrats on the Incredible... watch out if you have an improperly grounded display on HTC devices eg. http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/06/14/evo-4g-shipped-with-improperly-grounded-displays/ Aloqa, Assistant Free, Astro, Color Flashlight, ColorNote, Handcent SMS, Astrid
I used to think so. It isn't: http://www.androidspin.com/2010/05/25/why-you-dont-need-a-task-killer-app-with-android/ Anyway... for me: Must-have Apps: Twitter - if you use it. Facebook - if you use it. Movies - Awesome, awesome app for movie showtimes. DailyStrip - Bored on the toilet? Look at comics. Astro - File manager software. Might need to look at your SD card or something. MLB At Bat '10 - Use it all the time for my fantasy baseball team. Substrate - Not really an app, but a badass non-repetitious live background. Touchdown - Connect to your Exchange server at work. Not so must-have, but cool anyway: Shazam - must identifier app. Pandora - I think we all know what Pandora is. Google Translate - It's OK at it. Chrome-to-Phone - Android 2.2 app... send links and stuff directly to your phone. Google Goggles - Useful for scanning bar codes... not too good at much else. Urbanspoon - Good for finding a particular type/location of a restaurant. Must-have games: Robo Defense - Tower defense game. There are lots, and this is the best. Jewellust - Best Bejeweled-style game on the Market (better than Bejeweled). Sky Force (1 and 2) - Best verticle shooter on the Market. Radiant - OK, tied with Sky Force for best verticle shooter. Abduction - Jumping cows. It doesn't get better. SNesoid - SNES emulator (get ROM Buddy too!). It's better with a keyboard though.
I've got my touch pro 2 running windows mobile and android and I must say that I'm liking android. Stability is light years ahead of WM. Marketplace is nice to. My android doesn't even have sound, bluetooth or camera drivers yet and I prefer to be in the android OS more. I still boot to windows mobile just for garmin GPS and work email (ugh). Not ready to purchase touchdown for android just yet. Probably on my next phone though. Hopefully 2.2 will be out by then already.
My dad owns a tool shop and a lady came in there and sold my Dad 2 phones for 20 bucks. One which turns out to be a Android g 1 phone. I put my sim card in and the phone works great for calling. But the thing is, the user sign in still for the previous owner, so I can't use google maps and log on to download the Android apps. I can't really go to a T-mobile store and ask them how to reset it cause they prob. won't believe me that I got it for 20 bucks. So my question is, when you guys bought a Android phone, did they set up the account and user name then and there or did you do it on the phone and if so how do I go about resetting the andmake my own user name.
that Droid X is gonna be a nice phone by motorola. verizon is supposed to announce it on the 23rd. http://www.engadget.com/photos/motorola-droid-x/#3080659
I downloaded a couple of the Babelfish translators tonight and have to say they're pretty solid. Had some laughs with them, but can see them being of use and they're free. I've also downloaded a bunch of soundboards.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627997 Here you go. There are some things not working in Android on the touch pro 2 but the fact that you can just reboot and go back to windows mobile means you're not losing anything. Gives you a chance to play around with android to see if it's something you'd want to switch to. Unfortunately some things don't work like music, bluetooth and camera on the TP2. Even with that the I feel the OS is better for sure.
Houston Traffic - app that has the traffic maps and cameras Meridian - mp3/video player PhoneFlicks - if you use netflix Skyfire - best web browser imo Stitcher - good radio app SportsTap - get sports news and scores AK Notepad - text editor. ShopSavvy - bar code reader (great for shopping) tells you if a product is cheaper online or at a store near you.
I'm sorry, I don't do impressions. lulz...and this is why people hate Apple fanbois. tell apple to call me when they get off that crappy at&t service, and even then I'lll tell them to f off since android is everything iphone wishes it could be...but on multiple carriers.
