Levon's new? He don' sound so good since his throat cancer.

But, I reccomend anyone who likes The Band to listen to Levon Helm and The RCO Allstars album from 1989.

Levon assembled a band of All-Stars:
Mac Rebennack (aka Dr. John), Paul Butterfield, Booker T. Jones, Donald "Duck" Dunn, Steve Cropper, Tom Malone, Alan Rubin and the two old-timers Henry Glover and Fred Carter to come up with sort of country rockin' blues big band sound.

Good stuff. I didn't realize until recently that Bon Iver used to be the guitarist for The Rosebuds. I got to see Bon Iver a few times at SXSW a few weeks ago.

Beirut's latest album is outstanding. Even better than his first.

Check out the Beirut's takeaway shows at La Blogotheque.

    Nine Inch Nails: Ghosts I-IV

I usually don't go too long between putting on Thom Yorke's The Eraser. So listenable. Listening to the new NIN has made me want to listen more to Reznor's last effort, Year Zero, which I find more enjoyable than With Teeth.

...and I am eagerly anticipating Portishead's Third. From the clips I've heard so far, it will probably be my least favorite of their three albums, but at least it'll be new Portishead music.

I just picked up Down In New Orleans by The Blind Boys of Alabama. It's easily the best Gospel Album from anyone in several years.
