Good lord. Y'all's vag's are hanging out all over the place on a regular basis. Not quite as bad as IMDB's forum but holy Jesus- you people are the last place on Earth I'd come to for an artistic evaluation. What a barren wasteland of subjective opinion.
Meh. I was kinda close. Currently sits at 47% with 225 votes; 105|120 split. Has anyone here seen this, yet? One of the reviews on RT states that Mystique isn't given enough to do in this movie, where others are doing too much. Which is contrary to what most of us were talking about, a week or so back.
Seems like Fox listened to the fans. mystique took a back seat to everyone else. Her major lines were what in the trailers. Overall I'd give it 7/10
Yeah I saw it and I liked that they scaled back the Mystique and the way they use her feels pretty normal. The trailers make it seem like it's going to be a Hunger Games movie and that's not the case which made me pleasantly surprised. I don't know how I'd have felt if I went into the movie expecting it to be good, so I plan on watching it again now that I'll be coming in with higher expectations having seen it already. I'd say it's worth seeing, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it and certainly wouldn't go out of my way to see it opening week.
I'll spoiler this and it's a legit spoiler so don't click unless you want to know Spoiler I wouldn't hold your breath, they basically do with him the same thing they did to Ms Marvel in the last movie, they didn't want to add another character so they just took Marvel Girl's (Rachel Summers, who couldn't exist because of that godawful X3 movie) power that was needed for the plot and randomly gave it to Kitty Pryde while pretending Marvel Girl didn't exist...... Spoiler Well they did the same thing with Mister Sinister sort of. Instead of using Sinister to enhance mutants via experiments and whatnot, they just gave that power to Apocalypse and pretended Sinister doesn't exist.
While I agree with your assessment of how they gave Shadowcat those powers is bull****, I don't entirely agree about Mr. Sinister. See spoiler. Spoiler After credits scene says otherwise. Essex corp = Mr. Sinister. The current rumor is he's going to be the main bad guy of Wolverine 3.
Probably because Matthew Vaughn wasn't involved at all in this movie, whereas he basically came up with the story and concept of First Class and Days of Future.
From the reviews and the 47% on RT, it looks like Singer is back to his former self after not having material originally developed by Vaughn to work with. Bigger picture: When is Fox gonna cut ties with this hack? This would be a good time for Marvel to scoop in and cut a deal to save this franchise from Singer.
You know, I forgot all about that Spoiler it would be good to have him as the main bad guy in Deadpool 2 because they've already said they are doing an "Old Man Logan" storyline for Wolverine 3 and I don't see where Sinister fits in unless you replace the weird Hulk grandchildren with Sinister experiments. Now that I think about it, that could work really well.
It was the weakest of the new trilogy, but I wouldn't call it a bad movie. Mystique had a bigger part than Mystique should have, but she certainly didn't dominate the movie. Apocalypse sucked, but I went in expecting that. Spoiler As a long time fan of X-Men, the only major problem I have is how they are completely ignoring established roles for heroes and villains. I loved first class because they set Mystique and Magneto down a believable path to the characters we know. Fast forward, Mystique is a full blown hero, Magneto only has occasional bouts of evildoing between being an upstanding citizen who risks exposure to save a non mutant co-worker. Psylocke and Angel are bad guys, and Storm seemed fully prepared to let Apocalypse end the world. I went in expecting she would turn once she realized his true plans, but nope she was on board. I personally like having the MCU and X-Men universe separate. I wish fox handled X-men as well as Marvel is doing their thing, but I still think the X-men series is enjoyable. Altogether it would just make for far too clustered a universe, X-men should do their own thing.
I enjoyed this. Its the weakest of the First Class trilogy but still good and entertaining. Oh and Sophie Turner is very nice.
Generally "XMen Apocalypse" was decent but a movie is only as good as its villain. Apocalypse sucked ass. When your villain has God-like powers, what can you really do with the story? There were a couple of kick-butt scenes in the movie involving Quicksilver (?) and (no spoiler, we infer this from the trailer) Wolverine. I didn't mind looking at Olivia Munn and "Sansa" and J-Law. Otherwise? *shrug*
He had god like powers but didn't seem to do anything epic. Magneto seemed to do most of the damage. Also J-Law looked kind of messed up in this movie. But the movie wasn't bad. I wasn't nodding off like in the first part of the Dawn of Justice movie. Decent movie...probably the weakest of the new trilogy but still worth seeing in the big screen.
Dang, this should have been X-Men's best movie; their own version of "Avengers 1" or "Winter Soldier." It's not a good thing when the first movie was the best while quality keeps declining with each consecutive movie. With that said, I'm still seeing it in theaters. lol
