Does anyone know when they do the premiere? Tomorrow? I want to stay away from the internet as soon as the reviews and spoilers start hitting before i watch it friday morning.

I've been in self imposed Star Wars exile for a few weeks now. Ever since the rumors of leaks, I'm just not taking the chance. No articles, no youtube clips. I even change the channels when one of the new TV spots comes on. Just popping in on this thread felt like a big risk.

The theatrical trailer was perfection, now I just want to see the movie in ignorant bliss.

there is not a single review out yet for the movie. kind of weird since it's only 9 days from release.

There is a non-zero chance that it could be pretty bad. I think that's unlikely, but it's possible, given the ambition of the project.

    I'm hopeful overall.

It will be fine. JJ can direct a movie. It is product at this point and they will pump out mediocre movies every year. The star trek movies were basically star wars anyways.

It's not going to be bad. No way they would have signed off on bringing back the Star Wars franchise after the disaster that was the prequel trilogy unless they were very confident in Abrams vision for it. Also...Abrams very rarely puts out bad products.

Will it be amazing? To be decided, but I think it's a near-guarantee that it will be solid. I'm thinking it's destined to end up in that 70%-80% on Rotten Tomatoes. We'll see, though.

I agree, no way it'll be bad. Whether or not they deliver on the full trilogy, the spinoffs, and overall long-term relevance of it all - that I'm not so sure of. I don't need to see Karl from Walking Dead playing a 12 year old Han Solo, that's for sure.

I'm just wondering how long it will be after the release date to where I can just walk up and buy a ticket to see it without encountering a huge line and having to struggle to find a seat together with whomever I go with. Hopefully, it will only be a week or so before the crowds lighten up because I'm not going to rush to see this in packed theaters. The last time I went to SW sequel debuts as a kid...the audiences were actually applauding and cheering any time a familiar character came on screen. It was pretty corny.

As excited I am that Star Wars is back, I think the spin-offs are a terrible idea. Almost certainly nothing more than a cash grab that will likely cause fatigue, as well as not contribute much at all to the main story arc.

Yeah, I didn't mean mystery science theater bad or even Trees in Space bad, but I'd consider 60% rotten tomatoes rating a failure and probably a disappointing film versus our general excitement. To me, that would be "bad," as in I walk out of the theater going meh, okay.

No sign of fatigue yet from hollywood pumping out superhero movies 5 times a year.

Considering what it cost to liberate the franchise from George Lucas, spinoffs are a necessity. There won't any fatigue if the quality is good. IMO, the Star Wars universe has a very good chance to blow right past Marvel.

You nerds. Better wear some ****** clean socks and draws. Make room as I enter the theater.

Damnit, I watched this. Why did I watch this? I promised myself I wouldn't watch any more!

Just wait a week, there are enough ads out already, just avoid them any further.

I mean, there is a chance it could be a let down, considering how much it's been hyped. I think it will be great, but there are a few things about the trailers that give me pause.

I wish the stormtroopers didn't look different. They only look slightly different than the originals, but why change them at all if you're trying to reconnect with the original trilogy? Maybe this will be explained in the movie, but if they did it just because....I don't really get it.

Kylo Ren just doesn't look that intimidating. Darth Vader scared the hell out of us when he emerged for the first time to survey the dead bodies in the blockade runner in IV. So far, Kylo Ren just looks like a fencing instructor. And Kylo Ren isn't exactly a menacing name like DARTH VADER.
