They turned Rami into a cartoon and that ruined Bohemian Rhapsody. Rocketman is one of the best Rockstar biopics I've ever seen.
I saw him at Hofheinz Pavilion 2 months after that concert, in April, 1972. He played Houston every year from 1971 through 1975. I haven't seen the film yet, so I'll go in with an open mind (seeing it tomorrow at the local Alamo Drafthouse 10 minutes from where we live, in fact). After seeing that clip, however, having the actor lip sync audio from actual concerts probably would have been a better idea. Perhaps they had a good reason for doing it the way they did. Elton and Bernie Taupin, Elton's lyricist on his best songs, were a match made in heaven. When they split up, I think it was because of his drug use, it definitely had an impact on his music. The director certainly is good. He was great as an actor in Guy Ritchie's Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, one of my favorite British crime/thriller/comedy films. Tarantino, English style. Anyone who hasn't seen it needs to do so, at once! There's a director's cut out there, as well. Ritchie's first feature length film and also Jason Statham's first flick. Sting has a role in it and also had a lot to do with getting it made, along with his wife. Thought I'd add that bit about Dexter Fletcher and Guy Ritchie, @The Real Shady.
Saw it. I've got mixed feelings about the flick. The actor who played Elton was excellent, as was the guy who played Bernie. Not sure I liked the screenplay, though.
