Bond has always been a more mature star. Elba is 45 but he could easily pass for under 40. Black don't crack.

Are you sure about this? It was my understanding he's on for only 1 more film.

2 more, excuse me. Shatterhand in 2019 and then a remake of On Her Majesty's Secret Service preliminarily set for 2022 -2023.
    https://nbc25news.com/news/entertai...-reprise-bond-role-for-two-more-movies-report

In 2023 Elba will be 51, 19 years older than Connery when he started, 21 years older than Lazenby, 5 years older than Moore's whack ass, 10 years older than Dalton, 9 years older than Brosman and 13 years older than Craig when he took over the role. Elba would be older than every legit Bond not named Niven before ever shooting a scene, tentatively putting him around 54 at the premiere. Come on with this nonsense!! Its a nice media narrative but it won't work. Bond isn't Taken or Equalizer, the "old man gets justice" mantra can't work for 4-6 films/ 10-15 yrs.

Again, Elba as, say, 006 or 004 or whatever. Teaming up with 007? I like the dude. Get him involved somehow.

Excuse me, fella, Sir Roger Moore was by far the best man for the job. He was the Bond the campy-ass 1970's-early 80's zeitgeist needed. And let's be honest. No adult in their prime remembers the 70's fully.

I wasn't arguing for Elba regarding age. I don't care if Elba gets it or not; and I tend to agree with you regarding his age. If the role were free right now, though, I'd be all for him being Bond.

I really didn't know that Craig signed on for 2 more..I thought it was just 1. Thanks for the link!

Eh...I thought he wasn't great then...but those movies haven't help up well at all. He looks goofy as hell in View To A Kill, which I happened to see bits and pieces of over the weekend.

This could work. Waltz will probably reprise the Blofeld character and since he has an empire of Bond haters James needs some help. This thing writes itself. They'd have to figure out how to either fold in Jeff Wright's character too

But, that theory has been more or less debunked -- http://fantheories.wikia.com/wiki/James_Bond. Yet, it would make sense that different people are 007, given the age of the character, who in reality would be pushing 80-90+ years old.

Oh, I give it no credence. Just a theory that once drifted across my mind like a cloud over the plain.

In the original Casino Royale, Bond (Niven) when promoted to head of MI6 sees that spies are being killed and is told the guy who took the James Bond name when he retired quit and went into the television business. So he orders that all remaining MI6 agents will be named James Bond 007, to confuse SMERSH. So the James Bond 007 is an alias that's passed down from spy to spy

Published at: Sept. 20, 2018, 8:02 a.m. CST by Precious Roy

Hey folks, Deadline Hollywood brings word that the James Bond producers have hired Cary Joji Fukunaga as director!

Fukunaga, known for BEASTS OF NO NATION and "True Detective" should make for a great outing for Bond. Despite making the deal, the as-yet-untitled 25th James Bond film will not attempt to hold its 2019 release date, as star Daniel Craig has already committed to filming KNIVES OUT this November for Rian Johnson. Production will likely begin early next year.

UPDATED: Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig announced today that #Bond25 will begin filming at Pinewood Studios on 4 March 2019 under the helm of director, Cary Joji Fukunaga with a worldwide release date of 14 February 2020.
