Anybody else seen this? watched it last night and it cracked me up. real stupid, slapsticky-type comedy, if you like that type. reminded me of an old school, 80's style comedy. i dont know what the deal with it's theatrical release was, but i know there were some problems and it had an extremely limited release. strangely enough, they have a ton of copies at blockbuster though.
it just came out on video after a VERY limited theatre run, where i saw it. i thought it was great - i was cracking up thru the whole thing. they just throw so much out there that if you take your eyes off for even a second you might miss something. i love that instead of saying 'in god we trust' on the money it says 'haulin' ass, gettin' paid'. the movie was done 2 years before it was released - i think the original distributor distanced themselves from it and they had a hard time getting someone else to pick it up. it is very critical of humanity and i think it scared alot of people away from backing it. while it was hillarious, it was also distrubing b/c we are quickly moving towards that kind of society - everyone has microchips - cashless society - you must scan your microchip in your wrist to make bank withdrawls or buy anything. there are surveillance cameras EVERYWHERE. the general population of totally dumbed down and illiterate. we are closer to this than we may realize.
Mike Judge of Beavis and Butthead, Office Space and King of the Hill fame wrote and directed this. He is in the comedy pantheon!
It's got what plants crave. Elecrolytes gots what plants crave. The House of Representin. You see gentlemen, a pimp's love is very different then a square's.
it's been sitting on my desk for last 4 days but i haven't gotten around to watching it yet. maybe tonight.
I loved it and the in your face satire is dead on, a must see IMO, not really sure why Fox hates mike judge so much but this movie deserved a wide release
I know that but considering his fan base I don't see how it makes any sense moneywise considering how this was his first film since Office Space
Just saw this. I think I can see why it wasn't promoted and that there are tons of copies in the video store.
I saw it in the theater when it was released. The premise is great. The execution was terrible. It should have been a 30 minute short. I could only take so many variations of the same joke. I get it - everyone is really, really stupid.
why haven't they rebooted the idiocracy franchise? have elliot page be notsure to fit today's narrative.
