Curious conjecture. Any proof to back up the claim Ancient Egyptians are black? The current populace is said to have been genetically pretty much untouched even though white Ptolemaic conquest. Also, lots of mummys etc lack more "african" features. as well as their art and hieroglyphs. Please advise.
Crazy how studios give the green light to movies like this. I guess like a previous poster said "overseas" ticket sales have been helping their dumb decisions look good/okay.
I think experts who claim ancient Egyptians were black are the same ones who theorize that the Sphinx did not originally have a human head. They claimed it was build way later and the proof was that the size of the head was way disproportionate to its body. But I'm also basing this on a few youtube "documentaries" so what do I know. I've asked my Egyptian friends and they all looked at me crazy.
I think Gerard Butler had some fork in the road where he had a meeting with Kenneth Branagh or Merchant Ivory, but also hadn't gone to the gym in a few days.
I think the Sahara pretty much ensured that most of North Africa was ethnically caucasoid or whatever, but Egypt is fertile enough that the wholly black states it bordered had direct migration and contact, which explains people like Sadat. The whole topic has been poisoned by cultural studies professors.
These days, that kind of CG is not too ankhamun. I feel like it I paid to see it, I would feel gypt. Makes you wonder if the producers were actually running a... pyramid scheme. (what do I win, Joshfast?)
It has been poisoned by racists on both sides of it too. I think it's silly discussion, it would be just as silly if thousands of years from now if people are asking "Was America a black civilization?" or "Was Brazil a black civilization?" point being, Egypt was a melting pot. It was invaded countless times after all and it was smack dab in the middle of the ancient world. It also doesn't help that people have their own idea of what is "Black" and isn't and it really starts getting confusing. "Black" people don't come in one shade after all.

I liked the depiction of the Gods. They weren't huge musclebound action stars or old men and women in togas. They were young, lithe and exotic. It was different.
I take it you have seen many East Africans. They differ from Sub-Saharan ones as a whole. Ancient Egypt was probably a mixed Afro/Middle Eastern community but if you live around as many Ethiopians as I do you really start to see it. It's very obvious even when comparing the art work of Ancient Egypt.
