Holy crap they are horrible!! I've lived in Houston most of my life but damn!! This is beyond bad!! I went outside to play baseball with my little one and I was nearly knocked over and carried away! Needless to say we came right back in.
hmm, haven't encountered them much yet. last year was absolutely horrible after it rained after the drought.
you're indian you dont count you should be immune to mosquito bites by now (btw maybe its me havent seen you posting as much lately)
At least you have the wind. For real though, this mosquito season is going to be gawd awful. Almost no winter to speak of, and we're due for a really, REALLY wet Spring and Summer. I am preparing for the worst.
Are you referring to the large flies? I felt like there were a lot of mosquitoes lately, but it was just the flies making me paranoid. I usually get bit often, but they dont seem anywhere as bad as late last year.
When I was in middle school, a friend of mine told me that if we flexed our muscle when the mosquito is sucking our blood, it'll force more blood to enter the mosquito and she'll eventually explode. I'm still flexing really hard to this day. Hasn't worked yet.
I'd guess it's because you're following the wisdom of a middle school student, but who can tell for sure? One thing that will definitely keep the mosquitos off you is to inject Drano into your bloodstream before you go outside. Apparently, it's pretty poisonous to them.
I have one of these and I absolutely love it. The large flies usually throw off a few sparks and die. But the mosquitoes disintegrate with a POP! It's fun.
Not only mosquitos but fleas it seems too. My dogs came down with me to Houston for the week and I've never seen them flea infested like this.
I live in the suburbs in Hong Kong and (sometimes) in the countryside in Taiwan, jesus those mosquitoes are crazy.
i can certainly live with a few crane flies. i can't leave my door open more than a few minutes before they start invading my home. at least they're slow and relatively harmless.
there's a large one near River Oaks in the Waugh/Allen Pkwy bridge people come out and watch them every evening
