**** the rest of the way, we need to start off easy and we need to play Dallas. That is all. End of story.
completely debatable which team is "easier" at this point Portland is so beat up with injuries, and Mathews wont be playing Dallas is slumping, but they have rested all their starters and will be completely healthy or playoffs
I am the OP and I am disappointed of the lack of updates since it looked like a promising website. Someone else was providing updated of a green matrix with close results. However, with 4 games remaining, it would not be too difficult to figure out probabilities. LAC @ PHX UTH @ HOU SAS @ NOLA IND @ MEM There are 16 outcomes for those four games and assuming 50/50 for each game, although some might argue you that the Rockets and the clippers are more like 60/40. New update: 2nd is 25% 3rd is 13% 5th is 37% 6th is 25% Chances of meeting in first round : Portland 37% Dallas 25% LA Clippers 19% Memphis 13% San Antonio 6%
Website Probabilities Update Finally the website updated the probabilities and they agree with my 50/50 method. They also updated their weighted method and here are the results: http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NBA/Western/Southwest/Houston.html Weighted Method New update: 2nd is 29% 3rd is 14% 5th is 35% 6th is 22% Chances of meeting in first round : Portland 35% Dallas 29% LA Clippers 16% Memphis 14% San Antonio 6%
Our biggest weakness is pg defense. Rondo hae the least chance of crushing our 38 year old pgs so dallas by far is the more preferred opponent
That's true, 100% But... Rondo is a good one-on-one defender that Dallas can put on James to guard him for 94 feet. Portland doesn't have anyone like that.
Portland's stars are still better than Dallas' "stars".... regardless of supporting cast, as long as those stars are healthy, they can still beat the Rockets.
Don't worry... despite what the thread title says, currently the Clippers are the "least" likely opponent.
We will either face Dallas or Portland I'm pretty sure, either way I think those are the 2 easiest opponents in the playoffs, so there should be no excuse to advance to the 2nd rd. Personally I would like to play POR simply because they beat us last year and boasted about it, and I think we can take them out in 4 maybe 5 games at most.
it's updated on their main NBA page, pretty interesting. Has a fairly equal chance at 4 spots for us. http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NBA.html
The Clippers were the most likely 2 days ago when I started the thread. They dropped from 40% to 16%. The least likely opponent is the Spurs at 6%.
Yes, I know... but things have changed, and people coming across the thread for the first time now are posting their thoughts on the Clippers as an opponent... so we'll either have to update them with new posts, or just change the thread title with every game.
Change the title after every game No, I understand you. But it is not as impossible as you made it out to be. Lose to the Jazz and the other 3 win their remaining game and we will meet the Clippers.
Just wanted to share guys: Hedo Turkoglu of Clippers recently gave an interview to a Turkish TV and said they'd prefer to face the Rockets in the first round. I hope we can make their wish come true in the 2nd round. I believe we can beat them with HCA.
I was able to figure out their predictions for those 4 games using the weighted method based on the probabilities used: LAC 64% @ PHX 36% UTH 32% @ HOU 68% SAS 58% @ NOP 42% IND 31% @ MEM 69%
Update: With LAC win over PHX, Rockets no longer can be 3rd seed. Updated probabilities: Weighted Method New update: 2nd is 29% 5th is 49% 6th is 22%
Also, the Rockets no longer have a chance to meet the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round. Updated probables of meeting in the first round: Portland 49% Dallas 29% LA Clippers 16% San Antonio 6%
As of now for tonight's games: Rockets are favorite by 11.5 points against Jazz Spurs are favorite by 5 points against Pelicans Grizzles are favorite by 1 point against Pacers
