I think it's a disappointment in terms of what COULD have been for these Rockets. They could have won one, two, or four championships if Sampson didn't go down. I think there's a separation on what 'disappointment' could mean--either disappointment by what COULD have been (Griffin, Sampson) and disappointment by what DIDN'T get accomplished (Pippen, McGrady)
Eddie Griffin (rip) for sure is the number one on this list. We traded Richard Jefferson for this guy. Sir Charles has to be second. How did we not win a championship with Chuck, Clyde and Dream. Other notables Scottie Pippen Matt Malony Bryce Drew Boki Nachbar I wouldnt add T-mac to this list yet
A million times Eddie Griffin. Mo Taylor is up there, but he was the same player in LA for the most part, so it was really just disappointing that he never improved. Griffin was just plain horrible.
pfft you wouldn't put T-mac on this list when Barkley took us to the WCF? Tmac got paid max salary, Barkley came here on the decline and got paid lower than Matt Bullard in one year. If you put Barkley, then you put Hakeem and Clyde there too. Keep in mind the Hakeem/Clyde in 95 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Hakeem/Clyde 97 Kenny Smith/Sam Cassell > Matt Maloney
Injuries have to be a part of most disppointing Rockets of All-Time. It is a disapointment! Then, Tracy can't even be on the list either. I guess we should not include college busts either.
well, that's your take. but to me, why count something that a player can't control as disappointment? there is a clear line b/w injuries and other things, such as drugs or alcohol.
Steve Francis Part II. I don't think McGrady should be in this category. Maybe if this was "Most Frustrating Rockets all-time".
yes to college busts and no to injuries. dissapointing while with the Rockets because of bad performance caused by things the player had control of, i.e sucking, no heart, bad character etc.
Oh that's right T-mac never lost to the Utah Jazz like Barkley did. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_3fhpYtDU94&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_3fhpYtDU94&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
eddie griffin obviously... Brent Price anyone? I remember the season before we got him watching him light us up all over the place and I thought to myself, "damn, we could use a guy like that..." And then we got him, and then he got injured and never made any tangible difference.
To say McGrady isn't the BIGGEST disappointment is valid but to say he doesn't belong anywhere on a list like this is being in denial. He went from a team of scrubs that overachieved in Orlando to one with an All-Star center and a pretty good supporting cast and couldn't get it over the hump. Next year, he tells Houston that he's going to turn Stromile Swift into an All-Star and everyone knows how that went. I don't care if he's been injury prone because if you're going to be a primadonna/politician, you're going to get some heat.
