Mo was the guy who got me interested in the Rockets back in '80. Loved that he stuck around Houston and played summer ball at Fonde and mentored Hakeem and others. Huge talent.

Moses was one of my first Rockets heroes when I became Rockets fan in the late 70s. Chairman of the Board forever!
Sad day for the basketball community; we lost a legend. I will always be grateful for Malone for mentoring Olajuwon and being a huge part of his early development.
Frank Deford wrote this piece about Moses Malone back in 1979 and just re-posted it online earlier today. Great read if you have the attention span : http://www.si.com/nba/2015/09/13/Mo...est-rebounder-bounds-prominence?xid=si_social
Thanks for posting that article. Moses is one of my all-time favorites because of, as Deford says, his tenacity. I used to play on Sunday afternoons with a guy whom I thought was a lot like Moses-- a pain in the ass to play against as his effort was relentless and his judgment sharp. One could never let up.
