    Maurice Taylor’s 1972 Monte Carlo

    Car’s cost: Between $1,000 and $50,000 (depending on condition, etc.). Custom’s aftermarket add-on: $40,000.
Like many NBA and hip-hop celebrities, Taylor, a Houston Rockets forward and former Michigan star, has a fascination with the 1983 flick "Scarface." The film’s main character, Tony Montana (played by Al Pacino), has the same initials (reversed) as Taylor, so his car carries the Tony Montana logo throughout. The car is also getting a full air-ride suspension system, which provides a smoother ride. A one-of-a-kind custom aluminum grille (starts at about $2,500) will match the new custom wheels. Taylor also will get top-of-the-line Recaro bucket seats, a steering wheel with leather grips (about $150 and up), a CD changer and stereo system, and a motorized, flip-out seven-inch touch screen monitor with DVD player (starts at $1,300).

Some cars that have gotten tricked at Detroit Custom Concepts:

    Smush Parker’s 2004 Cadillac Escalade
    Car’s suggested factory retail: Starts at $54,880. Custom’s aftermarket add-on: $35,000.

Smushcalade and other tales from Lindsey Hunter's custom auto shop

Parker’s Escalade — the guys in the shop are calling it the "Smushcalade" — will have a number of unusual touches. Among them is a 15-inch TV screen (usually a $1,500 job) inside the dashboard. There also will be a DVD player, and the TV monitor includes a navigation system. The Cadillac also has new interior: The headliner (or the roof) and panels are lined with black suede, an upgrade that starts in the $2,000 range.

    Lindsey Hunter’s 2003 Hummer
    Original list price: $48,455. Custom’s aftermarket add-on: $60,000.
Hunter, who has young children, wanted to make sure they were entertained when riding in this car. So he added three high-definition 13-inch televisions for the front, middle and third rows, along with a PlayStation 2 console (about $5,500 to install the screens and video game system). He had black suede lining added throughout the vehicle to match the two-toned black-and-silver paint job on the car’s exterior. His TVs also have a Direc-TV satellite hookup (starts at $3,200 plus the cost of satellite service).

i don't want to start a debate, but the movie is a just thuggish Michael Corleone. Brian De palma sucks as a director because he copies everything from everyone else.

The Tony Montana thing is a high-school, flea market kind of cool. Kind of like thinking Chinese Throwing Stars are really cool.

OMG. You did not just diss on "Ninja" Throwing Stars. Oh it's on, now. [Peppers Mr. Meowgi with Ninja Stars]

BTW, I'm surprised that Mr. Meowgi, a Japanese man would attribute the Throwing Star phenomenon to the Chinese, when it was based squarely on the popularity of Ninjas in the '80s. :p
