Outstanding. Getting ready for the assault on Morgan Freeman for the sin of telling the truth.

He will either be attacked or ignored by those with no interest in what really happened during the 2016 election.

Trump fans will laugh at this and mock Morgan Freeman but mark my words ... had Trump said exactly what Freeman said about calling for an investigation when he was sworn into office there would be no special counsel. Michael Flynn would likely still be NSA, and Trump would probably be sitting at 45 to 50% approval poised to win in 2020 most likely even without Russia's help the next time around.

Of course he didn't do that because either he's too dumb to see it was the right thing politically to do, or he has a lot to hide.

So Morgan is right, but if Trump and the GOP didn't do this 8 months ago they won't do it now. We are stuck with Robert Mueller only until 2018 if the Dems are lucky enough to win back majority control.

US, Russian militaries hold unprecedented talks on Syria

    THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
    Thursday, September 21, 2017, 4:33 PM

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senior American and Russian military leaders met for an unprecedented, face-to-face session somewhere in the Middle East this week to discuss the growing tensions in the competing battles to retake one of the remaining Islamic State strongholds in Syria.

Syrian government forces, Russian special forces and U.S.-backed militants are all battling IS around the oil-rich Deir el-Zour province. The talks are aimed at ensuring safety for all the different fighting elements.

The meeting, however, also suggests an expanded U.S. and Russian effort to coordinate their efforts, raising questions about how the Pentagon is adhering to an American prohibition against military-to-military cooperation with Moscow. Congress enacted that law in the wake of Russia's annexation of the Crimea region of Ukraine in 2014.

Army Col. Ryan Dillon told Pentagon reporters on Thursday that U.S. and Russian general officers shared maps, graphics and information about where their forces are battling around Deir el-Zour. He would not provide details on when or where the meeting occurred, beyond saying it took place in recent days somewhere in the region.

Dillon said he was withholding the location of the meeting because there may be follow-up talks. He didn't say who was present or how long it lasted.

Asked Thursday about the growing turbulence with the Russians, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told reporters, "I am not worried, we continue to deal with the Russians in a collaborative way, we'll sort this out."

U.S. officials in the past, however, have shied away from using words like collaborate and coordinate, to avoid the appearance of any military-to-military relationship with Russia that would cross the congressional line.

Funny that the worst thing the Russians could do to the election is expose the truth and that really pisses people off.

Except that wasn't the worst thing they tried to do. Maybe it's funny they weren't competent enough to hack into the voter registration records and voting machines like they attempted to do. But that's not really humorous to me.

In some ways, they are and in many ways, they aren't. The thing about China is they didn't try and undermine our election.

China is a greater risk to our technologies. But yeah, let's have "war" with Russia over FB ads.

I can't really discuss your points if you believe all Russia attempted to do were FB ads.

If all Russia had to do was spend $50,000 in facebook ads to beat Hillary in an election where 2 BILLION was spent.

How can anyone be a fan of hers when she is that incompetent?

Huh.... you don't think China saw what Russia did and take notes for when its convenient for them? You have no concerns that they were so easily able to get into voting systems even though there is no evidence yet that they actually changed votes this time?

    https://www.vox.com/world/2017/6/13/15791744/russia-election-39-states-hack-putin-trump-sessions

Its quite obvious from the way people here parrot propaganda, that they probably only needed to propagate the coverage on social media with fake news like Pizzagate, Obama being a demon, etc. because people here in the US just are sometimes... well... media dumb, but the fact that they certainly could change votes if they wanted to doesn't alarm you?

What if a socialist country does the same thing to help Bernie Sanders in 2020? Would you be okay if Macron and France do the same thing to try and get Trump out of office and install a more globalist administration that will get back in Paris Climate, and open the borders? You realize that other countries will have a significant interest in America becoming re-globalized right? You think every other country paid no attention to what Russia did and is studying it?

Actually the biggest threat (as you mention before about China) would be if Trump pisses off China and a Dem runs a very China friendly campaign in 2020.

"Your team" won apparently this time around, but you guys are totally unfocused on the long game here if you want to maintain some sort of semblance of order to our elections system moving forward. Because I can tell you now that going into 2018 and 20, you will hear more and more lack of confidence from Americans about the integrity of our elections. The GOP brushing this off because "Their Team Won" is incredibly short sited. Because every other country saw what Russia did, and either they opened up the buffet line (if the GOP does nothing like they are doing now), or it will be a one time deal if the GOP end up taking this seriously like they have no thus far.

You don't consider Russia a threat because Russian threats don't matter to you, or you just don't know what they are. But you are being naive if you think that Russia's success and lack of response from our government wont pave the way for other countries LIKE CHINA to see they have a way to influence our country since there is no repercussion to doing what Russia did in 2016, and is still doing now.

Why don't we declare war on Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the DNC? After all, they conspired to burn Bernie and our democratic process.

I am not dismissing Russia as a threat, but to glorify their cyberassault as greater than China's is just a stretch.

I just assume most or all of the major powers around the world are spying on the US, hacking our systems, trying to influence our elections, etc. I assume we are doing the same things to them. Russia just got caught. You slap them down, like they did with closing the big Russian compound near Washington, they get embarrassed, you plug what holes you can find, and otherwise everything continues as normal.

So, lets assume for a moment Russia did everything you've been led to believe.

What now? Cold War 2? World War 3? What?

Effective sanctions and a thorough investigation to see where security holes are and if they can be patched up for future elections. Doing no investigation as to how we got hacked is similar to having your home broken into and not inspecting where the break-in occurred, then not repairing that break-in for future robberies.

Sanctions on what? Are you prepared for the retaliatory sanctions?

As far as the investigation, isn't that what Mueller is charged with doing?
