Paragraphs are friendly. No need to be afraid of them.

Morey: "Clutchfans thinks I'm great. Maybe I really am!"

    Yeah, I don't think so.

The reality is that it's ClutchFans that has the swollen head. Some posters here think their forum comments directly influence the Rockets' front office personnel.

...and yet the only team who has sent us home the last several years is widely considered to the best team in NBA history. You can't fault Morey for fielding a team that would have won a title in any other era EXCEPT the one where greatest team of all time trots out 5 all stars in their starting five. Literally every other team in the league has lost to GS in the same timeframe - Houston gave them the most troubles. Maybe your ego is preventing you from seeing the big picture here. As disappointing as our losses to GS have been, we have been the 2nd or 3rd best team in the league now several years running - almost any team in the league would kill for that type of sustained success....so I ask - who's ego is REALLY holding them back because by all but one measure, Morey has run the most successful franchise outside of Oakland during the Warriors dynasty.

Only 2017-2018 Rockets were legitimate title contender and lost due to CP3 injury and bad officiating against almost fully healthy Warriors. But Rockets cared more about tax savings than keeping the team intact and improving on it. 2018-19 was nowhere near that team and lost to GS even after KD injury. LA Clippers also won 2 games against the Warriors this year.

They paid Paul and Capela a crabload of money to keep the team together. They didn't pay Ariza. He received a big offer, and they didn't match. Ariza played for the Suns, was bad, was waived, then played for the Wizards, and was bad. Ariza can't create his own offense or shoot particularly well. His defense was getting worse. He was not a guy you overpay. I don't get your argument. Did you see how much Capela and Paul were paid to be kept together. This thread sucks.

But did they find any replacement for Ariza? No. Did they use their MLE last season? No. Did they give away first round draft pick to go under luxury tax threshold? Yes.

They had to sign CP3 for max since that was the promise...

Who were those 3 and D replacements they could/should have got though? Teams are paying 3 and D specialists handsomely right now(some are getting the max AS SPECIALISTS) - who were the realistic options Houston had? House came in and did a decent job as a wing given his contract. If he had been "a name" he would have been a lot more expensive - see Trevor Ariza. Ariza had the name recognition but clearly was bad last year and he still managed to get overpaid. The problem is there is no middle ground in the market right now for wings - you are either a decent player making nothing like House or a slightly better player making A LOT like Ariza. You can make the argument that Houston missed out on some SFs that would have been useful but you gotta put in the work and say who those players are who we actually could have had space to sign or a realistic ability to trade for. I think you if you actually think it through and try to identify that list, you'll find there was minimal opportunity last year.

Huh? We traded out someone we weren’t going to pay and got a 2nd round pick from the Suns for it.

    Bob Myers
    R. C. Buford

Those two aren't debatable, they **** all over Morey.

Morey isn't arguably better than Donnie Nelson, Danny Ainge, Masai Ujiri, all who have won championships in the last dozen years. Not to mention former GM (up until this last year) but still a guy who wipes his ass with Morey's face, Pat Riley.

    Morey, the best? Hahahahahahahahahaha, ok.

Actual it is. None of the GMs have done anything Morey can do without tanking! You arguement is invalid. Try again.

Yep. Happens a lot in the NBA.... at least 60 new rookies every year in the draft, lots of folks breeze in then breeze out.

    What else ya got?

Yeah he is. Masai might have a argument but that's about it, and only because of this past season. He gambled. I would call that more than lucky than I would call it skilled. You seem dead set on bashing Morey to go right on ahead. You know feel better?

This SAME talk EVERY summer. SMH

We have a good team just need a role player or two to get over the hump. We didn't have the wings we needed this past year. Morey tried with a few players and it didn't work so he moved on, better than overpaying and being stuck with them for multiple years and on bad deals unable to move them. GMs don't get it right every summer, but at least we have a GM that can move on from the players we tried to fit in.

Still some players out there we can get. PJ and Luc didn't get signed until late summer when we got them. Just have a little patience. We don't need a rebuild.

It was very strategic for someone to leak the Rockets are having locker room issues right before free agency. This is chess, not checkers. Some teams played dirty. This isn't Morey's fault.
