It's not an insult to the other players but rather a statement about how much the Rockets depend on Harden.

The fact is that we depend greatly on both Harden's scoring and his playmaking abilities. That doesn't mean that the other guys are trash, they contribute in other ways but those things are not their strengths.

If you created a lineup of 5 Dennis Rodman clones it wouldn't be very effective at all but that wouldn't mean that Rodman was a bad player. It would just mean that you are missing some needed roles.

A successful basketball team is a mixture of skills. On our current roster Harden provides the majority of the contribution in a couple of key areas. We have plenty of skilled players on the roster other than Harden but they don't provide the scoring or playmaking that Harden does.

This is basically the same thing that Parsons said a few months back that got Beverley (and a lot of fans here on Clutchfans) upset. Parsons said that that Harden was essentially the only really good player on the Rox and all others were role players.

The Rox are still a decent team without Harden. I bet they win tonight.

Yea but theres a difference between saying "We like our team. But James is the engine that makes our team go" versus "Without James we're absolutely nothing". As GM you have to carefully pick your words because you repersent the whole team not just the superstar. Plus, I actually think our role players are better than most in the league. I just think Morey's a numbers guy who isn't very PR saavy. I think he sees production in numbers & percentages but doesn't fully grasp the concept of team chemistry. It's cool but not cool
