If morey thought 9-10 million was a good price for parsons why did he not negotiate an extension after picking up his option this year? If he wants to lowball parsons, this was not the way to do it.
Everybody's like we an still keep him to $15 it's still a bad DEAL that could've been 2 solid players we had rights to making $7-8 a each... KARMA
Maybe it's not a mistake. It's the price Morey had to pay to get Dwight here. Parsons and Dwight have the same agent. Not a MoF. I just don't buy the whole "show good will to Parsons" by making him RFA so he gets his raise sooner.
i'm just waiting for Daryl to post on his twitter, " before the rooster crows you will deny knowing me three times." luke something something. it's time to stop chasing divas and start winning.
They probably thought they could match. Kyle Lowry signed a 4 year $48m contract in Toronto and he's a borderline All Star. Heck. He should have been an all star last year. Lowry is in my opinion a much better player than Parsons. That's the price that Parsons should have been at. Who knew the Bobcats were going to blow up the market and offer Hayward a max contract? How much would you have offered Parsons before the summer started?

I think OP said it the best when he described this as "GAMBLING" on the rockets part. Without knowing any inside info, i was at first VERY SHOCKED when the rockets announced they are going to let him become a RFA. Then when it sink in I begin to see two benefits: 1) Reward chandler for his recruitment effort for the team, for being a consummate professional. I think there is a WINK WINK deal in place where rockets have communicated with parsons and his agent on letting him out a year earlier. However it appears we got screwed by the fact that LBGHEY is so slow in making his decisions and apparently parsons going for his max dollars with another team. This risk is totally calculated by morey and his team and is thus gambling. 2) The other benefit is the TRADE VALUE it presents for parsons as a trade chip in case we have a shot at love. with parsons dangling on a 1 yr minimum deal, lets just say that parson's trade value would have been extremely low. Making him a RFA is a sorta of calculated move that maximize our FLEXIBILITY in the future, something the rockets value highly of. But we have seen Cuban or parson's camp negating this part by adding in a TRADE KICKER into the deal, which once again back-fired on Morey. In this instance, both of the benefits of letting parsons becoming a RFA backfired on Morey's risky moves. And really the sad part is that there is a very PROBABLE chance that NONE of the Tier 1 FA will choose Houston, leaving us empty handed this summer (well, not exactly as probably we will end up choosing for someone cheap and tradeable in the future with our CAP ROOM within the coming 3 days).
Parsons is younger with a bigger upside. I would've been shocked if he only received $12 mill a year given how things are going this offseason.
Because his cap hold right now is like 1.1 million. Had he negotiated his extension before now the cap space we are trying to use to lure a max guy would be GONE.
Has he said he will sign at 12:01 am EST? He hasn't signed anything yet, he can only make a verbal commitment until end of day today. That is his first chance to sign. And if he does .... he has to look out for his better interests, it's a business after all.
At this point I don't trust Morey. Don't see why there continues to be so much trust and faith in him on this board. A number of things can still transpire to make this off season a good one but I don't have the faith or trust in Morey like I use to.
Morey took advantages on a couple then-rockets players by playing this RFA card. Looks like this RFA card boomeranged this time. It's not the end of the story yet, we'll see how it pans out
Dragic didn't leave over a player option. He basically said he picked Phoenix because that's where he wanted to be, missed being there.
Reason 1) Jeremy Lamb and Kevin Martin for James Harden, I'd buy that for a dollar. Reason 2) D12. HTown. 2013 Offseason. If you still cannot see why -- get some glasses.
