It's easy to look like a bad coach with bad players and a good coach with good players, but somehow, McHale still looks like a bad coach with good players. There's no reason we couldn't have gone farther in the playoffs with the squad we had last season other than coaching.

The point is the Spurs hold onto their better players and develop them, a lot more than we do - we are a shiny object in the stream team - that has a very low probability of success.

Plenty of great players without a championship. Plenty of great coach without a championship(??).

Kinda of a chicken and egg thing.

Hard to said they are independent of each other.

Easy to said they are both important.

Every single team on that list had a coach that was better than McHale. Every single one.

It's pretty simple. The Rockets will not be a serious contender for a title until they dump McHale and get someone better. No matter who's on the roster.

Those teams that had 2 elite, had the top player in the nba on their team.
    Kobe, MJ, shaq, Hakeem, Duncan

We don't have that, therefore we need a 3rd star.

It's not black and white, different eras have different needs, there's Allstar/elite (talent vs winner)/ top 3 player of the nba elite.

How many championships did the Billups Pistons win without Larry Brown? How many titles did the Big 3 Celtics win without Doc Rivers? How many championships did Dirk win without Rick Carlisle? How many titles did LeBron win without Spoelstra? How many championships did Jordan win without Phil Jackson? Hakeem and Rudy T? Coaching matters.

he averaged like 13 a game, parsons will never be the player he was. sure he was known for passing but other areas of his game were well and he contributed a lot more than you think if you go back and look at some of the games.

Yeah, people will just say anything now apparently to slam Parsons. Pretty pathetic.

Some of these people and there ridiculous comments provide me a world of entertainment while at work.

    White chocolate better than parsons?

Horace Grant 3rd best player in the league.

Our big 2 Howard and Harden matchup pretty evenly to the likes of Kobe Shaq, Jordan Pippen, Lebron Wade.

All of this in 1 thread.

Too many fans underestimate the value of an elite defender at the 5. Tyson Chandler may not have elite skills but in 2011 his impact was elite.

Chandler was elite in 2011, just like Rodman and Ibaka is for OKC, if your stars aren't interior guys, you need an elite interior defender. Bosh might not make the all star game in the west, and only has 1 all nba selection, he's still elite, no?

SAS has the basketball world misusing and over using the word "elite."

Similarly, some teams who win it all in one year with 2 or 3 "elite" players might have come up short the previous years with the same players. Only that some of those players were not really "elite" yet. Would you honestly say that Pippen or Horace grant were elite in 1988 and 1989 when they were getting hammered by the pistons again and again? Was Manu elite in his early years? What if jerry Krause behaved like Morey and went after established stars then and gave up Pippen and grant just because they weren't that developed yet early in their careers?

If he could have upgraded, he would have. There were not upgrades to pippin or grant, they were both solid players,

Bosh is no elite player. Neither is a washed up Wade. So for 2013 I would say thats 2 elite players with Bosh and Wade counting as half of one. Wade made Danny Green look like the GOAT 3 point shooter with his terrible defense. He had two-three very good games in the Finals while being terribad in the other 3-4. Not to mention he killed floor spacing. The Heat always went on runs with him off the floor.
