Plenty of players would love to take 50 shots. Curry would be the type of chuck 50. He chucked today. LeBron and KD probably wouldn't. You know Westbrook would chuck 50 shots game 1 of the playoffs if he was allowed to. Same with Beasley.
22 for 50 is actually fairly respectable. throw in scoring 9 straight to take it from 96-88 to 97-96 with all of the pressure on him this game to score a lot and it wasn't just purely a chuck-fest without results.
this is getting out of hand. hes now getting credit for shooting 50 shots? really? they scripted the game to make him shoot almost the entire time. most stars would love to take 50 shots, they just don't do it. steph hit 400 threes in a season. let that sink in...
Just remember, winning 73 games MEANS NOTHING unless you end up winning the title. Otherwise, you'll always be remembered as the team that set the record but flamed out in the playoffs as a result of the effort.
Curry not going to be able to just chill on defense like he did last season next week. Lawson is on it.
I'll give him credit for finally starting to hit some in the end but in the last 5 minutes the Jazz basically turned into the Washington Generals and weren't exactly throwing double teams at him or switching or really even trying to do much more than contest his shots in a token manner.
find another player at 37 who is retiring that can put up 60 pts in a NBA game. now that won't happen. you're likely just too young to appreciate when something like this happens.
Did you watch the game? Everybody knew it was Kobe's night and even his opponents didn't guard him properly, it was like watching a summer league game the way everyone defended Kobe. Its all Lakers BS, the same way Wilt got his 100 with the help of his entire team. Even up to his final game Kobe was Mr. Blackhole all the way 60 pts on 50 shots LOL. Curry's is more impressive because it is the culmination of the hard work of their entire team, every year somebody wins the championship and every year somebody scores 60 pts. How many times does the most wins ever get broken? And how many times do you break your own record? I think that's way more impressive, a couple of years from now people will forget about GSW's ring but they will always remember their 73 win record until somebody wins more games.
Find another player at 37 who is retiring who would chuck till he got 60 against a team that didn't care and it would happen. Hell if the player was better, he'd score more than 60 on 50 shots and 12 FT's with all star game caliber defense being played. That said, it probably won't happen again, no one else is that selfish.
Is 60 pts on 50 shots really that impressive? Dirk is 37 years old, and he was able to score 40 pts on 26 shots a few weeks ago.
id say thats fairly impressive especially for a wing in this league. its a lot harder to score in the nba than people think. of course steph hitting 400 3s is great but hes been doing amazing things all season. thats something we could see coming. very doubtful anyone saw 60 pts coming. To each its own though but getting 60 at this stage with a W is just something im more impressed about from my pov.
Embarrassed is not the right word. A strong majority of global basketball fans agree that this is one of the greatest performances in this circumstance that we've ever seen. To be "embarrassed", the majority of people would have to agree with you. Unfortunately for you, you're in a minority. Besides, do you think the Lakers would've won if Kobe didn't take 50 shots? He won that game for them, like he did for so many years. I hated Kobe, but you can't deny that he had the power to win games single-handedly. I will always respect him.
Curry will be talked about for a long time, and this Warriors team will be seen as on of the greatest regular season teams of all time. If they do win a championship this year, this team will go down as one of the greatest teams of all time, and we'll remember Steph as the main cog in that machine. But that's how we'll remember Steph; a great player on a great team that accomplished great things. Kobe will be remembered as one of the greatest of all times with one of the best final game performances we've ever seen in sports history. This is a Cinderella ending to a career that Steph cannot even hope to touch.
Then a "strong majority of global basketball fans" are stupid because it was an embarrassing exhibition of chucking against all star game caliber defense, one that I hope we never have to see again. I think if the Jazz had ANYTHING at all to play for, Kobe would have had to take 80 shots to get his 60 because they'd have actually tried on defense. Knowing Kobe, chucking 80 shots is exactly what he'd have done. Kobe may be a top 50 all time player, but he's so ridiculously overrated that even BS like last night gets praised for some reason.
Most people should've expected it. Before the game, Byron Scott said that he was going to give Kobe more minutes than any other game this season. And we all know that if he's out there, it's not for his passing. Curry's 400 3's is far more impressive. Sure, we all know he was gunning for it, but he needed 8 3's last night, and Memphis was trying to deny him that record. On the other hand, Utah was letting Kobe do whatever he wanted.
expected 60 no I don't think so. but its all good. everyone is looking at different situations here. like i said earlier curry has just been amazing and what hes been doing all year is just great. its just more of an appreciation thing here for me with Kobe. regardless of what people think as far as how kobe got it, he still earned it. props to him and a great career. A lot of historical and great things happened last night for the league. The fact that there's some that have to slam one thing to try and push another is definitely not something ill be doing as a fan of the game.
