lets see if I got this right...None of yall think Howard would still beast in the 90's???....unfreakinbelievable.............Shaq is Shaq...But everyone else would be a toss-up....I think he could average 20/12/4 blocks in that era...
Hooray 4 Hip Hop and please dont OPP me mane..They gonna break, smash all up in ILL-Town just for you...Happy????????
This needs to be squashed right now. Shaq was exponentially better than Dwight is. It's funny that this thread was up today because I was thinking about this on Saturday night, and about how Howard is the "best" center in the league. What a joke. Shaq has every right to b**** about Dwight calling himself Superman, because Shaq is/was the NBA's superman and Dwight isn't even a poor man's superman.
NOT. A. CHANCE. He would have gotten owned incessantly. The fact that you believe he would avg those numbers is "unfreakinbelievable."
Man yall got quite a bad taste in yo mouth for ol Howard I see...I think his stats would resemble Mournings...Gotta remember there were no zone defenses then...and he is ultra athletic....Thats what gave your so called 90's greats problems...Dream and Shaq were 10 times as athletic as Ewing, Mourning, and Mutombo....Just my thoughts...I'm done now...
He's not down with OPP, that Dwight would get schooled (old or new) in the 90s Obviously Plentiful Proof
Mark Eaton never get any love in 90s centers were awesome threads. Dude was a tree growing straight through the basket.
durvasa, you're better than this its not that dwight isn't physically dominant, he still doesn't have the skills needed to compete in that era, dwight will never put up fifty in a game like shaq, hakeem, or robinson could, even ewing maybe
We will never see this kind of speed and power that Shaq displayed in his early years. He was THE definition of BEAST. He was someone opponents feared every night. Very special player, almost mythical, kind of like Wilt.
Howard is a lot like Mourning with a less polished offensive game. He would be a top 10 center in the 1990s version of the NBA, but not the unquestioned best like he is in this weak era.
The game in the 90's was also a lot more physical. Now if you touch a guy or hustle a little too much, he'll complain about not being able to have a career and feed his family.
And some guys here (most of whom probably didn't even watch it because they are too young) have posted that Dream "schooled" Shaq in the 1995 Finals. No such thing happened. Shaq and Horace Grant have NOTHING to be ashamed of about that series. The rest of the Magic? Oh well.
Plus Brian Shaw and Dennis Scott (who was complete garbage). A couple of the games were very tight and could have gone either way (obviously game 1 especially). What killed me the most about the series was Mario Elie. He was off the charts. But back to the subject at hand, Shaq was truly incredible. What a freak.
