I thought he did well this season, seems like not. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">New Orleans has fired coach Monty Williams, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.</p>— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) <a href="https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA/status/598169621154369537">May 12, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Damn shame smh. You take a chance on these 1st time coaches, just when they make progress you fire them? Terrible. I'd take Monty Williams over McHale any day

Feel bad for Monty, NOLA did get into the Playoffs, and even though they weren't victorious, they weren't the worst team in the West (*cough* DALLAS *cough*). But their fans didn't have that high of an opinion of him.
dude was horrible in those last warriors games ive never saw player subs that worst he literally threw the game, knew it was coming
damn, another bad coach out and Thibs is probably going there. The Rockets will have the worst coach in the division next season.
5 years, 2 playoff appearances (1 with Paul, 1 with Davis) Did he deserve his final year? Maybe but it's not as if they fired a top 10(or even 15) coach either.
It isn't a matter of what Monty Williams "deserved". The Pels feel they are poised to make a championship run soon and thought they could do better. Simple as that. I also agree this does not bode well for the Rockets (or the WC) next season.
As a former New Orleanian who watches his fair share of Pels basketball... Monty Williams' rotations are terrible. For as bad as people thought McHale was last year, Monty is 10x worse. Pelicans fans HATE him.
Yeah, I mean come on. It's not like NO was in the tank until the draft, then drafted an amazing stud and improved dramatically since his acquisition...
Pretty much. If you think you can do better you do it. Not just be content with nice regular seasons.

The way he took care of Ryan Anderson when his girlfriend committed suicide cemented him in my mind as an amazing person. Good guy all around.
Monty is a good man. Too bad he's not wired to be a head coach in the NBA. I wish him the best. Maybe an assistant job would be a better fit for him. Or a college job.
Man I don't get this but man maybe this makes Davis leave N.O. Can you imagine the Beard and the Brow!!
