No additional taxes would need to be levied. Just a redistribution of current tax dollars. Siphon off say 5 billion a year from the current defense budget. Funding problem solved.

    Heehee....

    ...good luck with that.

By the way, Congress just approved another 700 or so billion dollar defense budget (dems and repubs, just so we keep the hats on straight)...

...maybe they'll take your advice and send some of that money over to ICE...

Turns out that when the bad things are people being murdered, no one really cares about the good things and they'd gladly sacrifice those "good things" for those people to still be alive.

The farm where Rivera used to work is a dairy farm called Yarabee Farms. It's owned by the Lang family. Craig Lang is a former Republican candidate for Secretary of Agriculture. A statement was sent to Local 5 Tuesday night.

"First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mollie Tibbetts. This is a profoundly sad day for our community. All of us Yarabee Farms are shocked to hear that one of our employees was involved and charged in the case. This individual worked at our farms for four years, was vetted through the government's E-Verify system, and was an employee in good standing. On Monday, the authorities visited our farm and talked to our employees. We have cooperated fully with their investigation. Yarabee Farms follows all laws related to verifying employees are legal to work in the United States."

Lang is also the former president of the Iowa Farm Bureau.

Obviously employing illegals should not only be heavily fined but also criminal. Not just for the top but also HR and supervisors.

I'd like to know who housed the murderous illegal alien as well. Require documentation for housing. Medical care.

Self deportation could easily become a reality.

More likely that it never happened or that the business owner was negligent when submitting.

You often have to provide two forms of ID, one of which being a picture ID and often electronically verifiable, to complete an E-Verify confirmation. Passports can be used solo, but E-Verify usually provides a picture and has you to verify that it is the exact same picture as on the passport.

So it’s highly unlikely that a fake passport was used, and it’s also highly unlikely that any kind of fake federal or state issued ID was used either. It’s most likely that the guy was either legal at the time of the E-Verify and his legal status changed later, the E-Verify didn’t happen, or the business owner was negligent when completing the verification and didn’t even make a passive attempt to ensure that the ID being used belonged to the person he was hiring.

If any of those three are true, the employer could possibly be on the hook for hiring an illegal immigrant.

True...but the people that hired and the people that housed him did nothing wrong...because he was in the country legally according to his lawyer.

Probably not a good idea for people to continue speaking out against him as an illegal alien as it could damage the potential jury pool.

Before you accuse me of anything, I think it's terrible what happened. I don't care if he's here illegally or not. I might be on the left for most issues...but I do believe in the death penalty and this guy should be added to the list.

...Who wound up committing murder. Yep, I was thinking about this. That would be one big "hook".

Outside of making this more worth while to investigate, I’m not sure the murder is either here nor there when it comes to the employer. Unless it happened on the company’s property or while the guy was on the clock.

Because he's a murderer. In the actual case, it has no bearing on anything.

It puts the question of "why was he allowed to be in the country" front and center. It makes the fact that if laws were enforced and strengthened he would have been gone very important.

If he was here illegally...which he apparently was not. And in terms of this case, it does not matter. There's 1 charge of murder. There's no such thing as "murder by illegal alien".

I find it sad you are willing to dismiss innocent until proven guilty on murder but for some reason completely buy anything his attorney says about his immigration status. It's entirely possibly he pleads not guilty and says it wasn't him. Will you still call him a murderer? Seems to be a serious double standard there.
