In what universe is Steve Novak "awesome" at offense? Chuck is legitimately a very good defender. You can't say that Novak is a very good offensive player. If he was, then the Rockets wouldn't have given him up for nothing.

Great post. The Rodman/Piatkowski comparison sealed it.

Hayes and Novak are not polar opposites. Chuck is no doubt an NBA player who happens to suck at scoring outside of 5 feet from the basket. Novak is horrible at all aspects of the game except hitting open 3s (too bad NBA players don't get many of those).

Before he opted out of his contract, the Clippers were offering Corey Maggette to Phoenix for Barbosa. That would be about the caliber of player that Phoenix would be willing to take back for Leandro.

The other Barbosa-related rumors that were floating around before the draft were not necessarily for immense talent, but that was because all of those rumors involved the other team having to also take on Boris Diaw's awful contract.

Not to pile on, DD, but I have to agree with the others that this is a terrible comparison.

A more appropriate polar opposite to Chuck Hayes (using your description) would be someone like Zach Randolph. That guy is a legit 20/10 player on offense, but he is an absolute zero on the defensive end. It's almost like he'll just let his man get his shot off so that Randolph can go get the rebound and pad his stats. He is great on O, terrible on D. The polar opposite of Chuck Hayes.
