Man that would be great if we could get Mo Taylor. I had just given up on the Rockets offseason until I saw this report this morning. Lineup:

    Cato
    Mo Taylor [IMG]
    Anderson
    Mobley
    Francis
    record 46-36 or better
Give me a projection on this starting lineup.

Rebounding can be taught. Scoring requires coordination and speed, two things that are difficult to teach. Big Mo can score but will need to work on his rebounding. He knows now what he needs to improve in his game in order to get the big bucks. He's going to be a different player where ever he plays.

I am telling you all.....put Mo Taylor in a good situation with good coaching and he will flourish.

He has skills, and will get better in our offense.

He also went to Colgate playing against
future doctors, and lawyers. He has skills
but I wouldn't take him over BIG MO.

I don't think that Olajuwon will start this year. I thik the lineup if we get Taylor would be:

    Cato
    Taylor
    Williams
    Anderson
    Francis

If Olajuwon can come back strong just think of what kind of bench we would have, Mobley, Olajuwon, and Langhi.

Foyle can't score. Have you seen the guy play? I've seen him play in college and in the NBA. He's just a bit better than Cato when it comes to post up moves. Most of his points are from put backs, etc. Why get Foyle anyway, he isn't even one of the better rebounders in the league.

My biggest concern right now is how soft our frontline is. We dont have a hustling, "banger" type. Maurice Taylor addresses the need of a back to the basket scorer that I've wanted but ideally I wouldve like a player that provides the scoring, rebounding and toughness all in one. However, that doesnt seem likely, so to make this whole think work, the Rockets will have to acquire a rough and rugged rebounder like Jerome Williams as well to tie this whole thing together. If they can get BOTH Jerome Williams and Maurice Taylor, I could live with that.

#1Rocketsfan, do you really think Hakeem will come off the bench during his farewell season if he's healthy? I don't think so. The Cat definitely has the right line-up.

    Hakeem
    Taylor
    Walt
    Anderson
    Francis

Walt and Hakeem definitely start, Mobley and Cato definitely come off the bench, barring injuries of course.

My guess is that Hakeem will be the "starter" but not get Starter's minutes.

Thats proably the lineup but I would rather see this lineup:

    Cato
    Taylor
    Anderson
    Mobley
    Franchise

    This lineup is more explosive.

    Lil Francis,

Because of our rotation we won't start with that lineup. But most likely, we will finish with that lineup in the 4th quarter, and that's what matters.

    Rebounding can be taught.

Name one player that has ever been taught to rebound after being in the league 3 years.

He knows now what he needs to improve in his game in order to get the big bucks. He's going to be a different player where ever he plays.

Did he not know that he needed to work on his defense and rebounding this past year? Seems that if it was that simple he would have been a better rebounder last year since it was his contract year.

Has Nowitzki been in the league 3 years before learning to rebound? Nope.

Has Nowitzki really learned to rebound? Not really, he only averaged 6.5 boards/game (same as Taylor).

Name one reason why anyone would be motivated to rebound for the Clippers.

aelliott-Compare that with his season prior to that. Wasn't it like 3.8? For a 7 footer?

Got the basis of this idea from another thread.

Since the Clips were such a poor defensive team, there were not that many defensive boards to be had. I did the numbers and there were 250 more missed shots by Rockets opponents vs. Clips opponents. That's an extra 3 missed shots/game the Rockets rebounders had an opportunity to get.

In case you're wondering, the Kings uptemo style resulted in 374 more missed shot opportunities than the Clips. That's 4.5 per game (about the diff between Webber and Taylor).

These examples are defensive boards only.

Darn this. We DO NOT need a guy who thinks he'll get a big pay-off by being a scoring machine.

We need power forward who sets picks, blocks shots, and rebound...not a guy who must have 15 Fg attemps a game.

Sorry, I did not address the original thread.

    Starters:
    Dream
    Taylor
    Walt
    Shandon
    Steve

    Crunch time:
    Cato
    Taylor
Shandon/Walt - depending on who's hot or def assignments
    Cat/Shandon - see above
    Steve
