We showed more urgency on D tonight. We won a few 50/50 balls as well. Much better effort getting back in transition. It was an ugly game but the outcome is all that matters. We need wins however we can get them.

yeah deffense was better, You are correct, but the situation in general was worse
    besides that
are you gonna sit there and blame the rockets and harden when clearly the refs and adam silver prevented them from advancing?

Hire Sam as assistant defensive coach.

WB and others were missing layups left and right, the Heat had many possessions to attack.

Well, we at least knew CP3 was a good boxer.

I get sad thinking about Prince Luc's injury.

Then I get mad when I remember how it happened. Garbage time in game 82 of the season going into the playoffs.

This team doesn't have the defensive IQ to place in the top ten. If the effort gets us into the top 15 that's great, but our offense has to carry us and it needs to be far and away #1 in the league.

I wish you were right …. but from where I'm sitting , it looks like a lack of - as Bullard would put it - Huffert. No hustle or effort ….

When teams are taking the ball out of the basket and scoring like its a fast break …. it aint "Just the system."

The number of layups and open 3's they give up is just silly …

No , the system isn't helping but a lot of it is on the players - particularly Harden and Capela.

Having a 6'4" SF and a 6'5" PF doesn't help matters either …. Thanks Tilman for being a cheap ass.

It looks like both to me. The way the weak side rotates to the paint so much to help on drives - the ENTIRE weak side (Eg both or even three guys) means they have no clue who should actually be helping and who should be ready to rotate fast. All 3 of those guys in that example are just guessing.

Simultaneously they way actual side let’s their guy drive to the lane in the first place at will, or looses their guy for back door cuts, or refuses to get back in transition defense, is about huffort.

I know folks are probably tired of me harping on it... but when you’re leader is one of the worst huffort guys in the league, that’s what you get. When you have a combo of lots of other guys to preach and hold teammates accountable there - PJ, CP3, Ariza, PBev, Bzdelik... then it’s “ok”. Right now you just have PJ and his voice alone isn’t strong enough.

I don't disagree at all that Harden's a total slacker on defense ….

But I gotta defend WB …. He might not be the best defender but he gives a damn and says something about others not putting in effort - We saw it against Miami (not that it mattered). He was pissed …. and let them all know it.
