Racist, no. Racially insensitive, absolutely. And, of course, he's a Republican, a party that wants so desperately to attract Black voters, just so they can gain enough political power to undercut or eliminate the very programs that many Black families need in order to stay alive. Good luck with that Right Wingers, Black voters aren't as easily duped as working class Whites.
My previous post was more political than it should have been. I forgot this was NBA Dish and not the Debate forum. Sorry.
The irony between you saying this: and this: is deafening. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with your premise, but the fact is that racism goes both ways, and I'm sensing a lot of that right now.
Don't see how it is racist. Chris Anderson is one of the worst thugs in the NBA and Delonte West is Native American. More of a comment on NBA players being thugs which is BS compared to the NFL level of street crime.
He's going off the stereotype that guys in the NBA are criminals and black. Seems pretty racist to me. The world moves on but the guy is a racist.
None of these guys were caught with mar1juana, drinking liquor before a game, however, J.R. Smith might be an exception, but he's definitely ghetto...smh, lol
I have some issues with his position. He first takes a hit at 70% of NBA players being criminal types. This has to be stereotyping with DEFINITE racial undertones. Then he clarifies it by saying it has to do with the NBA's drug policies. So then I think: OK, what about other sports? Why not go after the NFL, who clearly have a more evident track record of criminal activity, not even tied to "mar1juana". And his ONLY reason for back tracking was public response, not some self reflecting thought to say "Oops, that wasn't right". And then the icing on the cake. The problems is with the athlete who thinks he is above the law, not "people like me" who think that.... And if you look at collecting tweets from his history (collected on Fox Sports) he has a history of NBA bias, that MAY excuse him from racist thoughts. Or may just confirm them... http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/minnesota-legislator-criticized-for-nba-tweet-031014
You realize his half hearted apology likely came because of the angry backlash, right? He's a grown ass man and a politician, not an impressionable teenager. Say something nasty, expect some nasty responses. But according to you, he apologized, so everyone should just drop it, right?
It is the definition of racist. Unlike entertainers making these type of tweets, he actually has the power to introduce LAWS to back up his thinking.
