I wonder how this compares to "Out of Bounds: Inside the NBA's Culture of Rape, Violence, and Crime"

My point was that for people like Rep. Garafolo who are big hockey fans yet criticize the NBA for thuggishness should consider what sport actually allows and encourages thugishness.

One other thing that was brought up on KFAN was that many hockey fans dislike the NBA because their seasons are almost the same and they resent how much more successful the NBA is than NHL. As we saw with the last NHL lockout year that most of the country actually didn't care that there was no NHL.

NHL fights aren't thug behavior, they are part of the game. Terrible analogy by that radio dj guy. Success of the sports league is something NHL fans should be pissed about. The NHL is horribly run.

media needs shiny objects to distract from poor Dem performance, so they troll to find an obscure GOP state legislator saying something dumb (as if that couldn't be done with the other side if they bothered to try)

OK - why don't you bother to try?

    I'll be here.

I'm wondering if maybe you migh consider an alternative explanation - that saying black people/nba players/whatever are pretty much thuggish "street criminals" by default is a noxiously stupid and odious thing to say if you're a public figure? And that in an age of twitter, it's easier to find these noxious odious statements?

I doubt you did - but did you?

HOnestly, as somebody who pretends to be a basketball fan - how do you even pretend to defend this?

Why don't you think about "would I be embarrassed to say this to James Harden's face" next time you make a post. It may help all of us.

So the media is firmly in the hands of liberals now?

Maybe someone forgot to tell Fox News then.

Sam, this schtick you have of trying to shame/ridicule people into submission is unbecoming (and exhausting).

Weigel was pointing out that when things are going bad for your side, you find a shiny anecdotal quote or incident and try to associate it with the entire tribe.

Like your lazy "a GOP state rep. implied basketball players are thugs, therefore this is what all members of the GOP believe."

Dems need another Akin quote to save them, and they are going to record/troll everything a GOP official says, down to dogcatcher, and then make an outraged post about it.
