Why? So you start: Lowry Martin Jackson Scola/patterson Hayes That move keeps us on this tread mill of mediocracy
Sean Deveney: Bucks have no immediate plans to move Jennings, I am told. But that could change, "when the dust settles." Twitter Wow, Bucks might be cleaning house?
Bucks picked up couple of nice players in Stephen Jackson and Beno Udrih and got rid off Salmons and Maggettee. They also get # 19 pick but lost their # 10 pick this year. (Great Deal for Bucks). Charlotte gained the #7 pick and also get to keep their own # 9 pick from this year but had to take on Maggettee (good deal for the bobcats) Sacremento traded their # 7 pick and gained # 10 pick and also they lost Udrih and had to take on John Salmons (bad deal for the kings)
Charlotte doesn't need another no offense defensive specialist....they gave Tyrus Thomas $40M last offseason to be that
That team can at least compete. At least we'd be able to trade Martin for something good if we had Jackson if it came down to it. Lets stay put and keep our picks and watch us be in the lottery again next year.
FWIW, 5 out of the 6 guys you named on that roster were on last year's roster and IIRC they competed and were a few wins out of 8th place in the West? As much as I agree with you about how awesome it would be to have Jackson on a Rockets team, his presence on THIS team (the team right now) is not needed in the sense that it would be just ANOTHER band aid placed on a major wound. The Rockets franchise needs a reboot and Jackson isn't a piece that would be ideal for said reboot
It's funny that with all the assets the Rockets supposedly have they still can't do what Charlotte just did. People on this website have some ridiculous irrational hate towards Captain Jack, despite the fact that he's been a true leader and winner everywhere he's went. He even took the Bobcats the playoffs. People on here have the audacity to say that Shane Battier is a better player than Jackson even though Battier has accomplished nothing when compare to Captain Jack. When Jackson was in Nelly's doghouse, I proposed that we trade Battier for him, but I was shouted down by the masses.
Jackson is 4rm Texas 2 and yes he's way better den battier wouldn't mind a cheap trade 4 da captain lol
Everybody else is getting better and you're cool with us staying put? Everyone that made the playoffs this year in the West WILL make it again next year unless other teams like US who didn't make it take their spots. Next year I can see Golden State making a strong run, along with BG and the Clippers and Utah still has a lot of good players as well. Furthermore, I don't care how you slice it. We overachieved last year with Adelman. It's a victory in itself that we won 43 games last year. Do you really think the Rockets can win 43 games next year with the same core under a new system and same coach? I sure as hell don't. I'm not suggesting we do anything drastic and try to build Rome over night but we need to get better by adding key pieces especially when you don't have to give up too much and I saw Captain Jack as being a piece that could have really helped without giving up too much. Just my opinion though.
Did I ever say I was cool with us "staying put"? Your assumption that by getting a player like Stephen Jackson would vault us into playoff contention is a bit of a stretch don't you think? While the Rockets DO need to improve, trading for a player like Jackson RIGHT NOW (I don't know how much more I can stress that) is not the move you make when you're going into rebuilding mode. You said it yourslf that this team overachieved last year so you think adding Jackson to the same group would move us up THAT much? I'm sorry but I don't think so. Like I said in previous posts, I rather the Rockets fail a couple of years to acquire/win a better lottery pick to rebuild. I can accept a Rockets team failing with the group right now so they can get a better lottery pick. What I don't want to watch is more veteran players come in that would make this team another middle-of-the-pack team where a playoff berth is most likely but can't crack the top 4 or 5 in the conference.
is darryl gonna hold on to luis scola like if scola is his lovefather? i have no idea why we couldnt have put luis scola in stephen jackson's place in this trade. SMH...
"Jackson is forearm Texas, too. And, yes, he's way better. Then Battier wouldn't mind a cheap trade for the captain." It took me a while, but I got it. Don't understand it, but I got it.
I think we're closer to competing than full on re-building like you're suggesting. We had the last pick in the lottery in last years draft and this years draft. And if we stay put then we're probably gonna end up in the same spot or move up to maybe the 12th spot. So you expect us to fail really hard or are you gonna hope and pray the balls roll our way and we magically get a top 3 draft pick?? Because these last couple years has shown that we're not bad enough to land a top 5 pick or even top 10. I don't know about you but when we made the Playoffs 3 years ago that was the most fun and memorable ride in a long time. Once you make the playoffs anything can happen. This year is a perfect example of that. If you really want us to suck hard enough to land a better lotto pick lets trade Lowry, Martin, Scola and Patterson cause these guys are going to help us win enough games to be mediocre and lose out on that better lotto pick you're speaking of. I don't see what could have been so bad about mixing in a savvy veteran scorer like Jackson in with our young blood especially when we have a huge gap at the 3. So YES. YES I DO think Jackson could have helped us move up by THAT MUCH and by THAT MUCH I mean help us win 3 or 4 more games which would have gotten us to the playoffs.
This post is unrelated: Did the Jass have the 3rd pick in the draft all along or did they trade for it?
Apparently Morey can only trade away lottery picks for role players. He can't acquire them the same way.
