Von Wafer would have a very tough time playing for a coach like Pat Riley.

Dude, lately you sound like Bill Simmons' puppet or something, regurgitating the same exact stuff he wrote or said on his podcast (even got called out for outright plagarism in the other thread).

I think Miami can acquire more than enough talent to win it all this year. It just won't be as easy. The Heat already have the coaches and GM with the ability to instill a defensive philosophy that it took Thibideau and KG to bring to Boston. They just need to be willing to put in the work. We shall see if that happens.

    Fisher/Chalmers
    Wade/Miller
    LBJ/Jones
    Bosh/Haslem
    Ilgauskas/Pittman or Anthony

Matt Barnes and Rasaul Butler are rumored as well, add a few more vet min guys and that's a no doubt Championship team right there.

Fisher, as much as I hate the guy is key, you need players like him, saavy vets who don't demand the ball, are clutch, and have been through the high pressure games.

Lets wait and see who they actually sign before designating them the favorites to win the title.

I don't think Kobe is gonna let Fisher leave the Lakers for at least one more season. I think he, just like Phil Jackson, will retire a Laker.

As for Matt Barnes and Rasual Butler, I think Orlando will re-sign him or he goes for the MLE with the Lakers. Butler will probably stick around with the Clippers or get overpayed by a team like the Knicks or something.

Bottom line, its gonna be hard for the Heat to fill out the remainder of their roster with somewhat decent players with only the vet min. to work with.

    ^^^^

I don't think it will be hard for them to get good role players for the league minimum. Earl Watson, Bell, Big Z, Rafer, etc could all probably be had for the minimum. They just may not be able to get a borderline starter/6th man like Haslem for that.

They really just a center like Shaq, Miller or Big Z to give them a break.

umm they already are the favorites, and if you dont think so, go call your bookie youll get good odds.

all they need right now after the acquisition of miller, is a big man that can foul and grab an occasional rebound. the hate on this team is hilarious, i guess after they win it all, people will say the only reason they won is because the referees bailed them out.

some of you really can't fathom that lebron and wade can share the ball? its baffling... lebron has shown through out his career he is more than willing to pass, wade has been begging for help and welcomes the mvp and all star to his team. if wade was worried about losing his title as the man he could have left for chicago.

this heat team is going to be ridiculous, like someone said, something like that celtic team except for the better part of a decade at the least. should the lakers get past the rockets this year, i for one can't wait for the rapist to crap his pants when he and ron ron are getting burned off the dribble and have alley oop dunks thrown down on them left and right like its the all star game.

    I forgot about Juwan Howard.

The Miami Heat have targeted free-agent forward Juwan Howard(notes) as they continue to shape their roster around LeBron James(notes), Dwyane Wade(notes) and Chris Bosh(notes), league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Howard could sign a contract for the $1.4 million veteran’s minimum next week. The Heat also hope to reach deals with guard Mike Miller(notes) and forward Udonis Haslem(notes) after James, Wade and Bosh agreed to take less than the maximum salary in their new six-year contracts.

Howard, 37, helped fill in for injured centers Greg Oden(notes) and Joel Przybilla(notes) last season while becoming an effective member of the Portland Trail Blazers’ rotation. He averaged six points and 4.6 rebounds in 73 games.

These guys like James Jones, Haslem, etc are going to be sorry down the line if they leave millions on the table. These guys have NO chance at endorsements. They will be broke by the age of 45.

I would understand if it was guys like Kidd, T Mac, Iverson,Baron Davis, Vince Carter etc....those are guys who have made 10's of millions of dollars, have no rings and who's kids will never have to work.

Those guys like Haslem will be thankful for one thing....Ebay, for when they have to hock their rings

Haslem has already made 31 million in his career. If he goes broke, I'd imagine he was still gonna go broke if he signs for $5 mil or $1.5 mil a year.

There is also some talk about him signing a one-year contract and getting rewarded next year. I also read they are trying to get Miller to take less so they can re-sign Haslem. Also, none of the "Three Kings" has signed on the dotted line so Miami's cap situation is still fluid. After Miller, the Heat may end up with more than just minimum salary players.

It may take a while to get a good read on how good their rotation will be.

Nah, what they need right now are defensive specialists and vetran point guards and a couple of big men.
