A series of explosions in the skies of Russia’s Urals region, reportedly caused by a meteor shower, has sparked panic in three major cities. Witnesses said that houses shuddered, windows were blown out and cellphones stopped working. http://english.ruvr.ru/2013_02_15/Meteorite-crash-in-Russia-explosions-in-Chelyabinsk/

I absolutely LOVE Russian car cams! first the plane crash, now this. btw: does a Meteor "crash" or "strike". Meteor Crash vs Meteor Strike.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/02/15/russia-meteorite/1921991/ USA today: 100 people injured, mostly from broken glass.
The explosion (sonic boom, I think) at the 12 second mark of this vid is crazy: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/b7mLUIDGqmw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Usatoday calls it a crash, too. OK, now I'm having an annoyed Swoly-D moment. Meteors don't "crash" into the Earth, they "strike" the Earth.
Probably fragments from this. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/eIe4FU3gvHI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I'm surprised the government didn't put out a warning. You would think this would be predictable considering it was large enough to pass through the atmosphere.

there would definitely be a sonic boom, if not more than one, just like when Columbia crashed. But shattering the windows, you'd think is due to impact.
