Pau Gasol broke his foot. MemphisX, hate to rub it in... are you considering switching to full time Rox fan? ;)

On the other hand, Rudy Gay sure will have more opportunity to prove himself.

My heart goes out to Grizzlies fans. Your season is nearly blown up. With that kind of injury, they must be very cautious with Pau to ensure his long term recovery. It's bad for the NBA any time someone as good as Pau's gets injured.

Isn't that the same exact injury that Yao had? Anyway, I hope he's okay unlike Amare who I was rooting for to never recover.

This is why Yao should never play in these games.

Apparently, this a common injury if your name rhymes with "ow".

I hate Pau Gasol, and I hate him in Int'l play where he amplifies the whining.

I don't wish injury on anyone, however I won't miss seeing his b****ass face on the court next season.

Yeah, same injury as Yao, also called a Jones fracture.

Tough luck. Gasol was leading the tournament in PER by a wide margin.

Having to go what we (Rockets' fans) went through last year was brutal, so we should have some sympathy for Grizzlies' fans and hope Pau Gasol has a speedy recovery. Besides the fact that these are all human beings we should never wish ill of, I just don't want anyone to karma-**** our team again.

    Get well, Pau Gasol!!!

We need Pau to come back to Memphis plays mediocre enough to not be in the Oden sweepstakes or the lottery. Memphis has Eddie Jones' contract expiring. If they could trade Stro's contract for expiring trash, and then tank the season, Jerry West would then be in a position to have a shot at Oden, and if not, then he is going to get another real good player, plus they are in a position to add another prime time free agent next year.

I would be willing to bet that this is West's game plan. Tank this season and add a top draft pick and cap space for a big free agent signing. Vince?? Bibby?? Chauncey?? Josh Howard??

I am betting on Memphis in the basement this year.

agreed. i hope he comes back 100 percent but he is my least favorite player in the nba. even when he's not whining he looks like he's whining.

You think West told Pau to break his foot? ;)

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if Memphis tanks, if Gasol misses a lot of time and they fall way back in the race. Unlike our own dear management, I have no doubt that West will have them tank if he thinks it'll get them into the '07 sweepstakes.

No he wasn't. Yao averages 6 more minutes per game than Gasol, but averages 4.0 more points than Gasol per game. If you do your math, that's 1.5 points for every extra minute Yao is on the floor.

Gasol's not exactly beating Nowitzki in PER by a wide margin either.

Well it seems he will miss about 2 months with surgery or 3 months without surgery. However, the problem is (unlike Yao) Pau has had stress fracture problems with this foot before and plantar fasciitis. I don't look to see him back on the court before New Years. Our early schedule is tough, so it looks like Memphis will assume Houston's place in the lottery this season while the Rockets go to the playoffs. However, look for Jerry West to move either Damon, Mike Miller, or Stromile Swift so that we will have MAX cap room, a high lottery pick, a healthy Pau Gasol, and his legacy in place.
