Or they just want to stockpile young and CHEAP players. Pretty much going en route towards a Florida Marlins-esque team.

Honestly, Zboy, they matched up well with the Rockets BEFORE this trade. This trade pretty much puts them up there with only the Spurs IMO. They've shown they can beat the Suns this year before Gasol. Dallas? Just going to get ran through by the Lakers' bigs.

Yeah, dumb trade by Griz GM. All they get is cap relief essentially and most likely now, LATE 1st round picks for a star.

I hear you, but it would be like the Marlins with all 2nd basemen! :D

but the deal i propose saves them much more. because, assuming you buy out steve francis after the trade, the only contract you have left after this season is Luther Head, which is miniscule.

    Pau Gasol Traded to Lakers

Man the Rockets need to make some kind of trade soon before the deadline, the two teams that I picked that we are gonna pass on our way to making the playoffs were the Lakers and the Blazers

And the Lakers just picked up a 20pts 10reb guy, and they just got stronger in the middle. And if somehow the Mavericks end up getting Jason Kidd we might as well forget about the Rockets making the playoffs. The western conference is up in the air, pretty much a team thats gonna make a good pick up by the trade deadline is end up winning the west, and in our case making the playoffs

true but they're financially fubar'd. As long as they can field a respectable starting five, regardless of size, it's fine. Stern's probably going to fold this franchise up or move it somewhere pretty soon.

I've watched alot of Lakers game as of late, and I have to say Kwame Brown has the worst hands in the league. He cannot catch a ball if passed to him from 1 foot away. He is also the worst rebounder in traffic. He just plain sux and that's mainly becuase he has small hands. The Lakers win for just getting rid of him...

Un-freaking-believable......I have a bad feeling that the Lakers just might have won the West (Jerry, and the conference).

Eh, you never know how much they'll win, but you got to give the new chemistry better odds with Jackson coaching them...

It just seems like for every Boston experiment, there's something like Pippen to the Rockets that doesn't work. :(

Why is everyone in panic mode?

Gasol is good, and will be better with Bynum and super Kobe....but are they really going to be that much better the Spurs, Suns, or Mavs.

    The competition just got tougher.

The Heat are in for a big fight with the Grizzlies now for the #1 pick.

Kobe just figures out new ways to pi$$ off Shaq.

    Unbelievable!

What a trade for the Lakers. They now have a championship roster. I don't know how well their offense will operate this season or how close to form Bynum will be come playoff time, but the Lakers have the pieces in place for a very strong championship run.

Bynum/Pau/Odom form a powerhouse front court rotation with Pau sliding between PF & C while Odom slides between PF & SF. Bynum and Pau can be kept fresh. Turiaf slides into the role of complete scrub. VladRam and Luke Walton also get pushed down the totem pole.

Depending on how fast they mesh and get healthy, the Lakers just became the favorite out of the West. But they could hit a lot of bump figuring things out.

Kobe should be very grateful he didn't get his wish. Considering what a team would have given up to get him, he couldn't have come close to this anywhere else.
