I was just about to post this story.

So much for the lakers dropping out of the playoffs w/o Bynum.

Also, the trade includes 1st rd picks in 08 and 2010 + the "retired" aaron mckie for salary purposes.

What a bad organization. They could have gotten much more than that from Chicago. They are spiraling and wanted Gasol for a while and had the young talent to get it done.

Its ironic how Jerry West is making beneficial trades with the Lakers and McHale is making beneficial trades to Boston.

Didn't see that one coming...wow. And which FA will sign with Memphis this summer? (Ans: one who just wants to get paid.)

Why don't they trade with Bulls?

I am sure Bulls can give them better offer than this...

Geeez......they gave away an all start for FREE !!!

Unbelievable trade. Pau must've really been pressuring for a trade because I can't imagine the grizzlies actually thinking this was a good trade for them.

The west just keeps getting harder and harder. i just hope the rockets can stay healthy and keep up.

    I didn't see this one coming...wow. Plus 2 (low) #1s.

BTW - what FA will sign with Memphis this summer? (Ans: one who just wants to get paid.)

Gasol in the triangle looks like a nice fit offensively. Expect their defense slide a ton, though. They lose a very good defender in Brown and still won't have Bynum for another month.

NO!!!!!!!! The Lakers are going to be nose diving in this road trip and they get Gasol to try to save their ass.

btw, Is Gasol out of injuries?

ha ESPN is reporting that Pau's brother Marc is part of the trade, along with the expiring contract of Aaron McKie, who is apparently still on payroll after 2+ seasons

Better question is: Is Gasol ever injured?

They weren't ever going to be a threat to win the division, and that's the only circumstance under which it's even relevant.

When I clicked on this thread, I assumed they had traded Odom for Gasol and still thought to myself "damn they got a lot better." You're telling me they got an All-Star big for Kwame Brown? Unbelievable. That team is absolutely loaded right now, and has the best player in basketball. As a Rockets fan, terrible news. As a basketball fan, great news. I wanted to see Kobe have a shot at going deep in the playoffs, but certainly not at our expense.

Bynum, Odom, and Pau along the frontline, and that doesn't even include their best player (best player in the league)? WOW.

That is a great front line. Odom can create, Bynum can finish on the inside, and Gasol is good from 10-15 feet. The Lakers are now Championship contenders once Bynum is healthy.
This is horrible news for the Rox and the rest of the Western Conference.

Oh, as long as the Grizz are giving away players, the Rox might as well get Mike Miller for Kirk Snyder and Chuck Hayes.
