Im with you.. its worth a try.. CP3 is the leader on this team.. Harden might be the best player, but CP3 is the leaders.. he will get those open looks to Melo
Melo is an upgrade over Anderson and that's it. Morey is hopefully working on an actual Ariza replacement via a Ryno trade.
That's actually a really interesting deal... does it work financially?... I could not be lazy and actually put it in a trade machine too... but if it works, that's worth thinking about. Does Batum have 3 or 2 on his deal left?
Start Melo and once the game starts just mix up the rotations so that he’s effectively playing on the right line up. Let’s the best players end the game and problem solved.
CP3 has impressed me more as a leader than his production on court. I'm positive Melo will play the right way here with CP3's leadership.
Melo’s best two seasons in terms of post season success were with Billups and Kidd running the show. Paul is similar in that he isn’t the new age PG and knows how, when and where to get guys involved. Harden will be obviously be the lead dog as he should. Melo just has to follow CP3 lead, play off of Harden and find his spots where the offense calls for it. D’Antoni just has to find ways to keep him engaged and focused unlike Donovan did. We can call Melo stubborn but expecting him to come here and be Tucker or LMM isn’t fair either. There has to be some middle ground slightly skewed towards Houston’s way obviously but that’s what will make it work. It’s similar to a football team adding a receiver who excels going deep but they’ve mainly thrown underneath and focused on RAC. You find ways to allow the deep threat to help the team while giving him targets throughout the game to stay engaged.
That’s on point with my thinking at least. MDA and CP3 will find ways to exploit Melo’s strengths because that’s what they do. He’s no slouch. This will arguably be the best team Melo has ever played on and his instincts as an elite scorer are still there. Could be one of the greatest coups in franchise history. Git err dun Murray.
Yea the heck it is. Basketball is about scoring points and trying to prevent the other team from scoring. The Warriors score from all over the court.
If we acquire Melo, honestly do you think he's a bench player? Bwhahaha man stop it. Dude will start.
People really don't understand how bad Melo is. "better than he played in OKC" is what everyone is already assuming (in case you forgot, this board HATES Westbrook), AND based on THAT assumption, he is a meaningless player who has a dramatic ego. He is only going to be better than Ryno in 2018 - and even Ryno 2019 is going to be better than Ryno 2018. For the minimum, with no guarantee of starting or not being waived, sure let's do it. Or, in exchange for Ryno's contract and a pick because dumping Ryno's final season is worth it. Is it possible Melo will give us something good? Yes. About as likely as us keeping Ryno and him giving us good backup C minutes. I would rather bet on Green, but Green doesn't have the benefit of being Paul's buddy.
Anyone who prefers Gerald Green in that spot over Melo is agenda driven and simply has too much ego over something that doesn’t impact them whatsoever. You simply hate Melo for no reason if you want Gerald Green playing significant minutes. No one is saying add Melo and build around him but make him part of the team and try to push you guys over the top. I don’t see the issue but then again I’m not as invested.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-and-other-lingering-nba-offseason-questions/ What’s next for Carmelo Anthony? Unlike Thomas, Anthony will have suitors. Three of them, at least: the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat. For Houston, Anthony would likely come off the bench as a scoring power forward. Ironically, that’s exactly what Rockets Coach Mike D’Antoni wanted him to do when the two clashed while together with the New York Knicks. D’Antoni’s presence was expected to be a roadblock to Anthony’s arrival, but multiple sources said D’Antoni would be fine with Anthony coming to Houston. The phrase “time heals all wounds” comes to mind. For Los Angeles, Anthony would make it the second straight year LeBron James could team up with one of the members of the “banana boat” crew, after he initially did so with Dwyane Wade in Cleveland last year. The difference is Cleveland had designs on getting back to the NBA Finals. Unless the Lakers swing a trade for another prime-age star (and few people here expect them to land Leonard unless something happens midseason), that would not be the case this season. But Anthony already owns a home in Los Angeles and would likely enjoy the opportunity to play there with one of his closest friends. Then there is Miami, where Anthony would undoubtedly wind up in the best shape of his career, would potentially be there with Wade (if he returns; more on that in a minute) and would be in a system and culture that would demand him to play a certain way. The guess here, after speaking to people this weekend, is that the decision is between Houston or Los Angeles. Either would be a fascinating situation.
Both can't play D. Both are streaky ball hog shooters (Melo less streaky). Rather have Melo out there if I had to choose.
