harden and the rockets have made chuckers look serviceable in this offense. carmelo would be much better here than with westbrook. i dont buy for one second that oladipo just got this much better over one summer
I think Melo should definitely be viewed as a starter. He's a major star on the downslope of his career, whereas JoJo is a lesser star at the end of his. But yeah, there will be times when he'll have to sit. Having CP3 there to smooth things over with his buddy will go a long ways toward keeping everyone happy. That last season in OKC you had three stars with three different agendas. Now that PG13 has committed to them and Melo is on the way out, that tension will be largely gone. But I don't see it as a problem in Houston.
Melo was stuffed on team (at the last minute) that has poor game planning, lack of a general team vision for the season, and a black hole shooting guard with a density the NBA has never witnessed. Melo who has definitely lost a step would have been a great add last year and will be an absolute steal this season if we can get him to sign a vet min. Now we wait.
Exactly. And if any of you who are saying Melo is a me-first player/chemistry killer/locker room cancer are also among those saying we should have jumped on bringing Dwight back on a minimum contract, you need to rethink everything you think you know about basketball.
Melo is a chemistry killing chucker....but we have to take risks as the current roster doesn’t stand a chance against GS. We live quite well with Gerald Green chucking crazy shots! Give it a shot, as we have nothing to lose (since GS ain’t gonna lose).
Just a reminder, @Codman's post regarding Melo from June 30th. Part of a backup, to the backup, backup plan.
LOL, since that was June 30th, I was thinking we might be at that stage now. Maybe @Codman can comeback and let us know how far down the "backup plan" we have gone.
Plan 1: LeBron Backup Plan 1: Paul George Backup Plan 2: Jimmy Butler Backup Plan 3: Kawhi Backup of a backup to the backup plan: Melo Alright, everything checks out.
I would think one of the Backup plans was exploring Kevin Love trades. Codman's post was on June 30. By then LeBron had already not opted in and same for PG. So they were off the board in terms of plans at that point.
It’s not so much the culture as it is Melo not being right for this team. To @Deuce point, he may not be a great fit. Melo has to understand that he can’t do what he used to do. He’s not an alpha and if he wants to win and truly help, he needs to take on a different role.
Wait, are you saying that waiting a year we now have a chance to get Melo AND still keep the All-NBA Anderson?
