Car-MLE-lo? Is that you? Edit: I hope he goes to the Lakers. He wants to be at least a top 2 option. I wouldn’t want him as a starter. The beauty of our starting lineup last year was we had 2 HoF playmakers, 2 perimeter defensive specialists who could hit a three, and an anchor in the middle on offense and defense. Melo starting here would be the Ryno lineup
It's definitely not a lock he signs here but I'd lean that way as well. The Lakers have a good chance to sign him and there was a report today that he'd be open to the Warriors as well.
I can't help but be pessimistic about this from Rockets perspective. Either (a) he ends up on Lakers, or (b) he signs up with Rockets and, to no ones surprise, plays just like last season (i.e. not well). Rockets still have their taxpayer MLE, would they consider Melo worthy of using it? I don't really know.

He's still saying that he's not open to a bench role, and with the Lakers or Warriors that's all he'd have. The Rockets have a starting job open for him and he was trying to get here last year before the Knicks pulled their BS. The Lakers are punting this season and he'd have to come off the bench The Warriors would be a VERY small role for him The Rockets are pretty much the only team that checks all of the boxes.
I bet he goes to LA. That team has little championship aspirations next year, as constructed, while the Rockets would need/demand Melo to be competitive on a nightly basis. Why not go to LA, sip some pinot with Bron, get paid, and not give a damn about anything....pretty much what he did the past few years?
