you got me thinking, if we have to do a 2 team trade with them, and perry just wants to prove his worth... would it be worth taking back lance thomas' bad contract to offset the cost of ryno for them? something like: HOU gets: melo, thomas NYK gets: ryno, taylor, qi, nanu, quarterman, long, uthoff, 2020 lotto protected 1st
Most ideal scenario is probably going to be the Knicks buying Melo out or going ahead and making the trade for Ryno+fillers, and then flipping those assets later in the season.
I played around with that and you can't make it work. You can't trade Qi and the tradeable assets don't amount to enough.
trade machine says it works but you have to wait for qi to be allowed to be traded (august 5th) and uthoff (august 28th).
Hopefully they just do the buy out and Melo comes here for peanuts the first year. Ironic if we ended up with both Melo and Anderson.
I'm at the point where Idgaf about this anymore. I'm so done with this BS. Nothing is close to being done. If Melo eventually ends up here then great.
Portland is a sneakily badly run franchise. When you see the contracts they normally give out it makes you wonder They completely lucked into Dame and CJ, every other move (outside of Nurkic) is very questionable.
There's no way Melo is coming. This is all smoke; this **** has become too overblown. It's our luck that we'd lose out on him.
Actually an interesting thought. However, in '18-'19 Melo will have no Bird yet want to get paid. Then...what?
My guess is that absent another party willing to tango and provide younger players for Anderson , the only way the rox get this done is by throwing in what young assets they have : rights to llull , future lightly protected (if at all) picks , nanu , hartenstein , Qi
Yeah I've come to where I actually think the Rockets WANT to do a trade over a buyout in order to preserve options for the future with his bird rights. Trading for Noah, signing Melo on a buyout and then him leaving next year is a disaster.
Ah, thanks! I wasn't aware of the dates. I've wondered if we should include Sergio Lull's rights as a sweetener.
