Their future is not ruined at all. If they came out actively denounced what they did, and started putting in real work for groups that combat racism and publicly used their turn around to reach others, they would perhaps an even brighter future.

But they need disciplinary action at the moment.

They also need an education on why that stuff isn't good fodder for a joke or whatever they were doing.

 

Dude. They are middle school kids. What you have just described is some dark twisted social justice reform camp.

This far left extremism is killing the Democrat party. If these kids literally murdered someone, they would get their record expunged at 18.

Talk to their parents and have a talk with them. Kids are doing worst things than a racist YMCA.

 

What these kids did was wrong and stupid. I hope they learn from it.

That said, I love Florida. Saw otters today, a squirrel and an iguana ate mangos which had fallen down from our tree and some ducks took a swim in our pool. I feel a lot more in touch with nature now! (Until I run into the first huge alligator, I guess!)

 

Florida is fantastic for tourists and seasonal residents/retirees. I'd go multiple times per year if I could. Many of my neighbors own condos in Naples and Tampa for extended stays in the Winter.

It's when you live there full time that you get to deal with all the downsides. The public schools are a mess, housing is pretty screwed up right now (not just housing prices but other things like property insurance are messed up right now), social services are pretty bad, all kinds of corruption at the local level, etc...

With that said, if I were retired, I'd definitely buy a property in Florida to escape the winters here. But I'd never raise my kids there.

 

Depends on where exactly you are and what schools you can choose.

 

What I described is kids learning a lesson. Middle school kids did something wrong. It's good for kids and adults to learn from their lessons.

You expanded it into the rest of their lives. I merely pointed out that it doesn't have to ruin it.

Your recent post shows that you are worried they might actually LEARN from their mistake and do something positive with it. Isn't that what any parent/teacher/community member would want?

I'm not saying they are required to do that. Just that they could.

 

Kids do dumb ****. There is a reason they aren't allowed to drink. The Left should take note and not suddenly say "oh they really wanted to take chemicals to stop puberty or have their genitals cut off". Ideologues are the worst.
