Dwight didn't want Phil back for the triangle, he wanted him back to manage Kobe. Just as he didn't really care about the system D'Antoni ran, it was that he let Kobe run roughshod over everyone and everything. (Al Jefferson was the only person in the nba who had more post plays than Dwight, yes Dwight was #2 in the nba for post plays)
I think they focused on making Nash happy than Dwight and Kobe in the end. Even with his old coach of the Suns he won't be happy because they are not having success. There is a reason why an offense with Nash did not include a Top 5 SG.
MDA still has no idea it was never about his system. It was about playing with Kobe. Take out Kobe and replace him with Harden in his system, Dwight would be a happy camper. MDA has a reptilian brain.
I think he's aware of that enough. D'Antoni can be a prick, but he didnt say his system is the sole reason why Dwight left. He's just saying he doesn't get why Dwight was against his philosophy, but accepts a similar philosophy on another team, pointing out the irony there. I'm willing to bet that Morey deep down knows that brute post up possessions are not as "efficient". But the Rockets are just more willing to compromise some post touches to improve the bigger picture. And Rockets staff has a better understanding of defense than MDA. Dwight is a diva, but his complaints about wanting post touches thats not uncommon for a big man. Even defensive minded players after a while they want to get involved on offense some.
