Every owner always says they are open to trading it. There will be reports about it for awhile and then eventually some sources will say there wasn't a good offer and the Texans will say they fell in love with a player.
I equate this to him saying that Lovie Smith could definitely be a candidate for the coaching job, when deep down he had already made up his mind of wanting BOB. I think McNair is a lot smarter/conniving than most of you guys give him credit for. He's not just some bumbling old rich man who happens to own a football team.
Good, they should be doing their due diligence with the pick. Pretty much what any front office would do, collect and evaluate all options. Go Texans!
Translation: Anything is possible. We haven't done enough scouting to hammer down a consensus player that we want, but maybe if we like a guy as much as another, and someone wants to trade with us, we will. Maybe, who knows?
Ok, dang I am so split go with Bridgewater..... Who exactly would be the most sure thing really reminds me of our last number one draft when we went with Mario Williams and we couldn't keep him long term anyway and he didn't really help us win games.
Every team is always open to trading the #1 pick. For example: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/football/draft/2006-02-27-combine-notes_x.htm
QB willer be the most "sure thing" in an NFL draft. If you want that, you should go O-Line. But that's not the pointof the #1 overall pick. It's time to maximize value. I feel that BOB will do a great job in evaluating the QBs and decide if there is one worth the #1 overall and if not, Clowney/others and trade down will be evaluated to see how to maximize the value of the pick.
I think they'll seriously explore a trade. I still think it's too risky to ride with Bridgewater, no matter how talented, next season. The emphasis is clearly on turning this around right away. They don't have time to lose, can't wait to come together late in the season and risk losing a playoff spot. Keenum needs another season or two, at least. Yates is what he is. If Schaub didn't have completely flat tires, I would bet he'd be back. He'd be our best bet with a different offense/plays.
The Browns are an obvious choice with picks #4 and #26. Pos. Team 1 Houston Texans 2 St. Louis Rams (from Redskins) 3 Jacksonville Jaguars 4 Cleveland Browns 5 Oakland Raiders 6 Atlanta Falcons 7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 8 Minnesota Vikings 9 Buffalo Bills 10 Detroit Lions
