I live on Riverside right next to a chain of fast food joints side by side that all stay open after bar hours. Taking a stroll down the road at 3am... Taco Bell? One car... Wendy's? Empty... Popeyes? Empty... KFC? One, maybe two cars... Burger King? No one... McDonald's? DRIVE THRU LINE SPILLS OUT INTO THE ****ING STREET. McDonald's isn't going anywhere.
Here is the thing...McDonald's Hamburgers are actually 100% Beef. Grant Imahara, formally of MythBusters, has been going into all of the McDonald's facilities to ask these questions and review their production processes. Watch it for yourself. 100% Beef: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXgSnUmhdws
Huge hit to McDonalds was the public backlash to pink slime. It was actually a very safe and cost effective product... But internet warriors that knew nothing about the food industry had to save us!
Sounds almost made up. Lisa Mcdowell? Was this payback by McDonald's for their blatant rip off McDowell's?
From what I've seen. Kids still beg to go to McDonalds. Until that ends, I think they will have a market share and some brand loyalty. There are two challenges for them to survive. The Internet now allows us to cook just as well as the restaurants, so eating out now begs the question why even bother to eat out, other than eating out serving as a purpose to get married people out of the house. The grocery stores are the killer. They now have better options to make a good meal, and they also serve the fast food market too, getting you food fast, but with healthier options. So there no reason to run to McDonalds anymore other than getting your kids to do the right things, or to get out of the house. They don't really offer anything that's a draw except maybe a milkshake. So it really just comes down to if they can either hold that kid loyalty, or second they decide to build a different type of image like Dominoes went for. Even though I think Dominoes advertising was a load of crap, they sucessfully rebranded and asked people to pay more. McDonalds has the firepower to do it, but I think that kids still love McDonalds, and they don't need to move just yet. The Pizza market is also getting destroyed by the ability of the grocery store to offer equal quality in a box.
