    You’ve got THAT backwards.
    Been watching news lately?
It’s gonna be real funny if the D’s go ahead with Biden. It already is, really....and sort of sad.

I dont' watch propaganda my friend. If you don't think Bill Barr has acted against the interests of this nation, you don't know much about our country and the facts.

I'm always surprised by stories out of Africa like when people in a certain region hostile to the government are suspicious of WHO workers trying to inoculate them against ebola, like it's a covert op by the government to oppress them. They should be afraid of ebola right? They have to be some kind of ignorant to not want an immunization, right? Or the Tamil Tigers not wanting the Red Cross to come help them with disaster relief after a tsunami. Paranoid, right? Those poor benighted souls are not so wise of the ways of the world like us educated and experienced Americans who can tell the difference between a public safety effort and a conspiracy.

Obviously I think you have it 180 degrees backwards. But forget for a moment about which version of the truth is right. Here are 2 citizens with polar opposite understandings of the recent history of our country. Before we even get to the question of how should we govern ourselves, we can't even agree on the facts of what has happened. Its a crazy-pants time we live in.

Not really. He administration has had far less issues than Trump, Clinton and Reagan. There is the Bush Sr. administration but he was in office for 4 years only and was not and is not terribly popular.

Obama is certainly more popular than Trump, Clinton, both Bush, Carter, Ford, Nixon and LBJ. The only one that is arguably more popular is Reagan and he has lost luster as time has gone on.

You are going full on wacko O's how is this surveillance and tracking?

Or are you against any widespread testing?

What happened to you being a neutral observer, you sure seem to be going out of your way to attack one side.

There were cons here who wanted to open up with S. Korea or Taiwan's model. Guess how they kept their infection rates low?

Look I'm not happy w/ surveillance or tracing because it could be normalized and that is terrifying. But it's not as terrifying as going out to make money without knowing if your slob of a neighbor 20ft away in an open space environment is infected. Nor am I naive enough to assume it isn't happening with our surveillance state centered solely on the shadow FISA court as a check.

What are your options for Opening Up America if we can't track infected asymptomatic people?

Yet you and I can have a civilized discussion or disagreement and we both would stick up for each other’s right to have their own views. We may be at opposite ends of how we see things but it’s clear to me that we both love our country.

Ive stated my position several times. I will vote republican in spite of the dbag that’s in the WH. I didn’t vote in the last election because of the candidates. I will vote in this election because of the candidates. My political views align with the right. Nothing to hide here.

Honest question in good faith... would you ever consider voting against your party if your party was needing a check and balance because they were no longer compliant with the Democratic norms set in the Constitution? Or would you be okay with a shift to autocracy if it's your party that is in power to enjoy such extensions in power?

It’s your vote and you can do with it what you want but if your views align with the Right how much is what we have now actually Conservative. You have an administration and subservient party in Congress that has exploded the deficit (and this was prior to the current crisis). Degraded separation of powered. Trampled on Federalism when it suited them. Weakened the US’s standing around the World.

Trumpism isn’t Conservatism. Not the kind that Goldwater and Reagan advocated.

YES!! Right now it’s about the lesser of two evils. I just can’t find common ground with the left or the Democratic Party. I come HERE to try. The only thing I can find is that I do believe you guys love America. And the Rockets. I’ve come to learn something by engaging here. There is no middle ground in politics. And I honestly just came to that conclusion typing this reply. It’s actually sort of therapeutic realizing that.

what’s the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.

Its not the person in power that I’m standing up for. But I do have to hand it to him, for sitting thru 3.5 yrs of a false narrative that undermined his presidency, constantly attacked and threatened with impeachment from day one. This has been the most interested in politics that I’ve ever been n my life. I don’t identify w any Dem leader. Heck Obama, was closer than anything you see now. He’s likable. But as we see now, he also played a dirty game. And I sort of respect it. Politics apparently is a dirty game.

So, I'm hearing that if you thought the Trump party was seizing too much power, and moving towards autocracy you would react by voting Dem even if you weren't 100% aligned on policy issues?

I'm not trying to give you loaded questions, but under that premise does it not bother you that the DOJ right now is clearly a political arm for the president, and that right now this week, the president is arguing in front of the Supreme Court that he has Absolute Immunity and Congress has no ability to conduct oversight? Under this premise, IF the Supreme Court sides with Trump, in 2022, a president Joe Biden can ignore all subpeonas from the Republicans in Congress, and could shoot someone on 5th avenue for whatever reason and local authorities couldn't even detain Joe Biden.

Is that not a problem to you? You say lesser of two evils... what are the evils that a Joe Biden possess that are worse than a dramatic shift away from Democracy to give this sort of power to one man? One that you yourself have not expressed in such glowing terms.

And just think about the rule of law for a second. Look at how the DOJ since Barr came into power, and boy does he have alot of it. Go look at how they handled the Jeffrey Epstein case. Are you telling me that this administration with Barr as AG deserve another 4 years?? I won't ask you to vote for Biden if you actually believe he is worse, but I will ask that you and other Republicans take a look at how the Trump party is obviously trying to shift towards autocracy and maybe try and curb that behavior.

I assume Dan Crenshaw is your Congressman? I would encourage you to call him, and tell his staff who you are, and who you are likely voting for, but voice your concerns if you truly do care about these issues. If you stay silent as a Republican, I'm telling you now the writing isnt just on the fall.... its shining bright and blinking on top of Trump Tower. Even if you love the guys policies and hate Bidens, he does not deserve to be above the law.

Frankly it sounds like you are more interested in the person that you're standing up there. In your whole rational I didn't hear anything about actually standing for Conservative principles such as limited government, separation of powers, or US standing. It sounds like you're going to vote for Trump because people have been mean to him.

We know your political views are right. Obviously. The point of a debate and discussion forum is to justify and defend your right postions. You just seem to never justify them and instead hold water for the President and b**** about how the public is mean to him.

95% of the debate and discussion in this sub forum is debating the underlying facts rather than a discussion on policy and ideology

Personally for me I'm happy to have a debate on policy and ideology.

@B@ffled, again it is your vote and you can vote for who ever you want and for whatever reason you want. If you want to vote for Trump because you think a Liberal cabal has been trying to undermine him for 3 and a half years that is your right. If you want to vote for him because you had a Trump steak once and liked it that is your right. What I'm pointing out out though is if you're voting with Trump because you consider yourself on the Right you should consider then what is about Trump that makes him on the Right?

The most I can see is that Trump has lowered taxes and appointed very conservative judges. Those are no small things but otherwise he's governed the way that should be anathema to many on the Right. The weakening of the separation of powers is very severe considering it was already happening under Presidencies of both parties. Trump has flaunted it by running end arounds of Congress regarding spending on the Wall and supplying arms to the Saudis. He's flaunted court rulings with arguments that should shock any small government conservative by claiming that the Executive has absolute power. For those who believe in a free market he's put a massive intervention in it through tariffs and then through large subsidies. The Right at one point stood for US leadership in geo politics and standing with traditional allies yet this President has called for a retreat of US leadership, insulted traditional allies while standing with opponents like Russia. Finally that Right is now for protectionism and anti-immigration would be unrecognizable to Reagan, who signed an bill that gave a path to citizenship to millions of illegal aliens and farewell speech spoke of the importance of immigration to this country.

I apologize if I sound like I'm picking on you but this is a huge problem right now for this country. Too many people put themselves in ideological camps and waive ideological flags without knowing really what those ideologies mean. "Conservative" "Socialist" the way they are used now doesn't mean what the people who founded those things meant.

Actually, I am a fan of Crenshaw's and just finished his book. What's not to like about him? I'd like to address all of the points you bring up but I'm limited on time this morning. Still I wanted to respond briefly, then maybe when I get more time I can drill down.

I do agree that Congress should have oversight and subpoena powers. However, I do think they were abused for political purposes on both sides. Both sides, to be clear.

I am mindful from reading your posts, that you are highly alarmed that an autocracy is being built. It's ironic because my circle and of friends in the real world and I see that there was already one built with Obama. I'm surprised that you don't see that or at least acknowledge some of it.

I'm not up to speed on what Barr did or did not do on the Epstein case. But I do know the whole Epstein deal has tentacles that run through both parties. It would be naive to believe otherwise, IMO.
