you've got to be kidding right? ward beat everybody in his weight class. at the time of the supersix ward was no better than a longshot to beat: kessler, froch, authur abraham, who was a wrecking machine at the time, andre dirrell.

Then he went up against chad dawson, a light heavyweight.

    who else is there?

Think about the very top fighters -- what do they make $500,000 plus various bonuses that put the purse up to 1 or 2 million? UFC needs to start paying their fighter real money.

UFC fighters are very underpaid. Not sure why when they say its been a very fast rising and popular sport. I recently read that the purse for Mayweather-Pacquiao is what UFC paid all of their fighters combined between 2005-2011. Crazy

I think "the purse" is one thing but there are stars that actually get more. I assume that the beautiful ronda rousy gets WAY more.

5 years too late. Will still be a huge draw...but I'm not sure I'll be watching live. If it was in 2010, I'd be shelling out for the ppv.

If you don't watch THIS fight live, you just aren't a boxing fan. Period. Which is cool, but don't act like you are taking a considered "stand" on the matter. You just don't like boxing.

Not nearly as much as I used to. After the Gatti-Ward trilogy, I lost the love because nothing, IMO, could be as awesome as those 3 fights. This could have been when they were in their primes. Now, it's just a huge money grab. I don't blame them for doing it but I'm just not as excited as I would have been back then.

I don't think you are qualified to make that judgment. If you haven't followed the sport since ward-gatti, you've missed plenty of great fights.

You missed the first 3 pac-marquez fights, you missed Rogers Mtagwa v Juan Manuel Lopez.

Also, if the only fights THAT CAN GET YOU TO WATCH A FIGHT, has to be ward-gatti, you certainly aren't a boxing fan that's for sure.

I don't think you're qualified to tell me what I'm qualified for. We've never met and you don't show s*** about me. I never said I haven't watched any boxing since then.

Besides, why are you so offended at my level of fandom? I'm sorry that I've given my opinion and that it has apparently hurt your feelings.

most of us in here are die-hard boxing fans, not sure why you felt the need to say you ain't going to watch this fight LIVE and that it's a money grab. Serves no purpose except to out you as a casual fan at best.

Oooohhhh you outed me! Gosh darn it. I really was hoping to continue this charade of the world thinking I'm the biggest boxing fan.

Congrats. Here's a cookie for you.

Also, could you point me to the thread rules that stated "die-hard boxing fans only". TIA.

It wouldn't be the 1st time Floyd Jr. got injured during training before a big fight. Remember, when he was supposed to fight J.M. Marquez in the summer but it had to be rescheduled to September or on Mexico's Independence Day.

inb4 some 'controversial' ending and the demand for a rematch... shocker!

Tim Bradley talked about how dangerous it is to really drain yourself to make weight. Lotta research shows that bein adequately hydrated helps protect the brain, said it was a big reason he felt lasting effects from the provodnikov fight, had to lose something like 30 pounds in a month or something rediculous.

Well whats point is just moot then. It's hypocritical to be calling for Golovkin to fight at a higher weight against the biggest and best when Andre Ward hasn't even left his division.

If you wanna cite a victory over a drained Chad Dawson as evidence that he's beaten people in the LHW class then thats just misguided. Don't get me wrong Ward top p4p but he should be the one going up in weight to fight Adonis/Kovalev/Hop, not the guy who has yet to unify any legit belts in his weight class.

Wow thats a weird reason to stop watching boxing. Thats like saying I stopped watching basketball after Olajuwon or Jordan retired or after Cluch City because I will never see a better player/better team because nothing would be as awesome as those. If anything, Gatti-Ward should have made you love boxing even more.

And I completely disagree about it being just a money grab. Sure, they may have lost a step since 5 years ago but they are still the two best welterweights in the world, who just happen to be the the two most popular fighters in the world. Its very rare that this happens. Its this generation, Ali-Fraizer. You can argue that its bigger than it ever was with the explosion of social media these days.

Cheapest seats are rumored at $1000 and I can almost guanratee you that the general public will not be able to snag it at retail value. Its so shady man. For every Pacman or Mayweather fight, the cheapest tickets are never available to the public. They "sell out" instantly. What really happens is the casino sells the cheap seats to ticket brookers who then put them out at resell prices.

I love boxing and been waiting for this fight for years but no way in hell am I going to pay a grand just to be in the same building. Rather fly to Vegas, watch next door in a close circuit viewing and spend that grand on hookers and drugs or something.
