First 3 threads in the NBA Dish involve the Mavs...

and they are good for nothing?

They are good for entertaining an average NBA fan. I'm not going to lie to anyone, I watch the Mavs all the time. You just sit back, grab a beer and some popcorn, and enjoy yourself. They are on national TV at least once a week for a reason!

    They are so good because:

    1. Consistency

0-4 when the season begins and they hardly fall again.

    2. Bench Depth

When Van Gundy is talking abt an 8-man rotation, AJ is talking abt a 10 or maybe 11 man rotation. Dirk, Terry and Howard all can rest throughout the season and remain fresh in the playoff.

    3. An exceptional Coach

While AJ retained the offense of Mavs which was previously well-known and being proud of, he successfully molded the team into a so-much-better defensive team. All in all, I can only say he is an excellent coach and I would give him Coach of The Year again.

    4. Good Drafting System

They can draft Josh Howard in 29th seed (If I am right, but not far from that) ? Not to mention Dirk, and I personally beleive that M. Daniels will shine under AJ's guidance. And he is just a second round pick. He could possibly be starting in Indiana's lineup.

I'm watching the Mavs game right now. They hit their first 3 pointer in the 3rd quarter with 9 minutes left and they still already have 67 points. That's very impressive.

Consistency is more than just winning. 10-0 when they score 60 points in the first half, 22-2 when Howard scores at least 20 points, and there has to be others but I'm not that big of a fan-boy!

It also goes back to mental toughness. If you can play the same style of ball regardless of who the opponent is, then anyone can go on such a ridiculous winning streak. But that goes back to the coach.

I photoshopped this wonderful picture for a facebook group I created (called Dirk Nowitzki "plays for the other team"). I'm not that great with photoshop, but I must say that it is the finest picture ever created.

Winning 60 games or so in the regular season, then crumbling apart in the playoffs.
